Morning

Yet another grey damp day in the offing. I changed the bedding yesterday and did some washing. I foolishly tried to dry it outside like I have every day this week. Most of it went in the drier and airing cupboard in the end. The duvet cover is draped over the clothes airer in the conservatory as I hate drying those in the dryer. Today is big towels!

This morning I have french at Haslingden, this afternoon i shall try and make progress with Janes dress, this evening is zoom yoga. Today is Brionys 13 th birthday, we shall phone her this evening. It is also the 23 rd anniversary of my Mums death.

Have a good day all

Morning Sue. I find the bannister at the head of the stairs is a good place for drying duvet covers.... Definitely not a good drying day outside here in Barlick. The blocking high in Northern Europe is doing a good job of damping down the wind and trapping the cloud down at low level.....

I thought it might be Sue when I wrote it but knew you would set me right.
I'm satisfied with the finish on my flywheel so I can move on to working on other castings this morning when I go in the shed at 06:00.
I have been very idle about going for a walk of late. I promise I will do better this morning... They promise a bit of sun later on in the morning....

I started on the valve chest. First I spent about twenty minutes on hand work in the vice with files to clean up the interior surfaces and get them to size. Then I started in the mill to get the outside surfaces to size and square. As you can see all did not go well. I got careless and the cutter jagged into the casting. Half an hour of careful measurement and milling and I have retrieved the situation, still work to do but we are on track again..... Now for breakfast.

I shall be in the shed at 06:00 doing good works with my castings. I shame to say that yesterday I was not tempted out for a walk in the gloom. I am making no promises for today, we are promised mist all day. So.... basically another day of keeping warm and looking after myself.... :biggrin2:

This morning I did more work on the steam chest. I finished the rough milling to size then measured and marked for the valve rod and the valve rod gland. I drilled for both of them and then used the gasket provided to drill the walls of the steam chest clearance for the 4BA studs that will attach it to the cylinder. I marked the chest with the witness mark that will ensure it is always correctly oriented. That's enough for this morning. Now I deserve my breakfast!

Morning

There is nothing to differentiate each day , in terms of the weather at the moment. Its the same dreary damp start and forecast as we have had for about 10 days now. It did rain yesterday but was much more a fine drizzle as we were sat in the descending cloud. The day went as planned. I finished Jane’s dress which we will take over to her sometime. Being winter weight its too heavy to post. She is working in Spain at the moment and returns on Thursday.

Todays plans are varied. At some point we are making a trip to Burnley cemetery as it was the anniversary of Mums death on Monday. I have had a message to phone the GP surgery for an appointment as the result of my xray is back and this evening is zoom pilates. My back and hands were significantly better in yesterday’s classes so I think the anti inflammatories are working.

I have no other plans at the moment. Have a good day all

Morning Sue.... I hope the results of your X ray will be positive. And yes you're right, the weather is stuck in this high pressure system that contrary to the usual bonus of good weather is simply blocking any movement or change. Here in Barlick we have the same story and I doubt we will see any cheerful weather.
Have a good day, look at it this way, it's better than many Novembers I can remember! :biggrin2: :good:

I shall of course be in the shed first thing for my occupational therapy..... The forecast is for another dry but overcast day, indeed the glass is up slightly this morning, so who knows, I might be tempted out for a walk. It depends on how gloomy it is!

This morning was more work on the steam chest. I finished the cosmetic work on the exterior with the file and then measured and marked for the steam inlet pipe. I drilled and tapped for that 1/4" X 32tpi and made the pipe, I also made the duplicate that will eventually be the exhaust pipe at the bottom of the cylinder. Now I want breakfast.....

Thursday morning so it’s art at Haslingden, this afternoon I have a routine blood test. In between I hope to carry on with a bit of gardening I started yesterday. Another dull day here. Amazingly there was some sun and a little blue sky in Burnley yesterday but not here. Have a good day all

I spent an hour on the steam chest lid. First to make sure it was square and then to get it to the right size, marked with a witness mark and drilled in the correct places for the six studs that will hold the assembly together. Now I'm ready for my breakfast!

Morning

I was just starting to write when we had a power cut, thats the third this week. I thought my iron had caused it before but needless to say I am not ironing at the moment. The washer is on but it wasn’t the other day.

As its Friday its art and lunch out, the six of us today, but we also want to go to Bacup market to get meat as we are out all day tomorrow at a wine tasting event in Manchester. I have towels to wash after this first load, i doubt I will get them on the line before we go out which is a shame because it is due to be a bit sunny 11 till 2. Have a good day all.

Morning Sue, funny time to have a power cut... Was there an obvious cause? We had one of those the other day.
I'm back up and having a hot drink before a trip out into the gloom for my light veggie shopping at the Co-op!
This came to mind.... From Thomas Hood.

It's that time of the week again! I put my pork belly in the slow cooker last night with the spices and onions... This morning I took the gravy off and it's separating out the fat in the freezer. I shall put my chicken in to roast before going in the shed at 06:00 and deal with it after second sleep when it has had its 4 hour roast. Not a bad start to the day. Veggie cooking will be tomorrow..... :biggrin2:
Later at 05:45. The pork belly gravy is de-fatted and back in with the meat. My chicken is snug in the roasting tin with its stuffing of hot spiced chicken wings, tomatoes, peppers, garlic and spices all laced with some Lea and Perrins! Now I am having a sit before deciding whether I want to go in the shed!
Even later at 06:30. I realised there were a couple of domestic matters that needed dealing with so I have done them, put my breakfast to warm and ditched the shed!
Later still at 06:30..... I'm back up, chicken is basted and browning and a hot wash is just finishing. Standards are being maintained!.

Morning

We thought it was the iron that caused it the other day but Bob checked it out. There was nothing out of the ordinary plugged in yesterday, we will have to monitor it.

Today we are off to Manchester for a wine tasting event THREE WINE MEN . We shall have lunch in Manchester before hand and may browse the Christmas market that has just opened. The atmosphere is good but there is rarely anything that we want to buy. We shall to Manchester on the bus and train and do the reverse or the tram back. It depends which end of Manchester we are at when we come home. The wine tasting is in the cathedral, in 56 years of living here we have never been in

Its due to be dry and cloudy. The paths in our garden have dried up at last with yesterday’s bit of sunshine. Have a good day all

Tried to send this and we had another power cut …..
