Seen on Youtube

Post by Tripps »

It's obvious that members are using Youtube much more these days - even to the exclusion of books. perhaps we would like to share what we find there for the interest of other members? As before- let's try it, and see how it goes.

I noticed today that the local Kia dealer had moved round the corner, and rebranded their Kia dealership to BYD the Chinese electric car makers. My lad has a BYD and thinks it's great. He has however managed to get by with just a home charger - so just overnight charging, and no long waits, and rip off prices at public chargers.

I then came across this Youtube video tonight, which is worth a look. I've been watching Mr McMaster for a while now. He's a bit of a wind up merchant, but his electric Porsche cost about £130k, and isnow valued at about £30k after a couple of years! He tells it like it is and is worried about that. (My Diesel Juke cost about £12k five or six years ago, and must be worth £6k at present.)

This doesn't seem to have caught on. Let's try something different.
I haven't seen Martin Zero for a while, but Google has read my mind again, and just put him back into my sight.

last try -

Here's the Rossendale Valley - roughly the home of my ancestors.

"The Lancashire Valley that Time Forgot"

There are quite a few slipper makers in the family tree. Rather depressing actually, and surprising how dilapidated, run down, and 'third world' it all looks. The people he meets are top class though. Imagine getting a unannounced guided tour round the Masonic Hall. More likely he'd get thrown out anywhere else. He finishes in Bacup - where our member Sue goes to the market every Saturday, and the wonderful Britannia Coconut Dancers hail from

Here's the very catchy Nut Song

I lived in Bacup for a couple of years and the thing I remember about the place that characterises it for me is that first thing in the morning the prevailing sounds were guard dogs barking and burglar alarms going off. It's no accident that at one time the valley held the record for the number of claimed UFO sightings and had its own UFO observatory. (And a maggot farm....)

Or people on low incomes David.... For £20, delivered to my door, I get enough chicken and pork to last me a week, that wouldn't buy me a steak from Mr Bennett!
(Our butcher during the war in Stockport was Roger Bennett.... Doubt if he is any relation and if he was alive today he wouldn't believe those prices.....)

When rNHS is finally fully privatised, we will have the joy of watching adverts for medical drugs on TV. I'd read that American TV was largely not worth watching - and if this the standard of their adverts, I can easily believe it.

Yes David, it was bad when I last watched it almost 20 years ago and will not have improved since. It's the natural consequence of treating the client as if he/she is a sub normal moron.... Peter and I were discussing the rise of the syndrome in the NHS a few days ago.
It's a partial explanation of how they could vote someone like Trump into power.
Then look at the overall standard of our terrestrial TV..... :biggrin2:

Google has decided that I need to watch the Irish comedian Dave Allan. This is the latest thing they are making me watch.

I can't help thinking it is an extract from the book that people swear on in court, to say the "the truth. the whole truth, and nothing but the truth". I'll get Cantuar to explain it to me if I meet him.

It's a puzzle isn't it David. I have sympathy with Dave Allan's doubts and that might be what led me to buy a book called 'Testament' by John Romer which was an attempt to clarify the link between the Bible and history. I don't think he quite succeeded but at least he started me asking the right questions and finding more reliable guides.
I still haven't an answer to Dave's questions but I think I understand the question better!

I apologise for this off topic item, but as a born and bred Oldhamer - it saddens me to see such a nonsense. It really deserves national press exposure.

Oldham Council Meeting - live now is worth a look. :laugh5:

Oldham Council Model meeting

Here's the full cast which I find handy. List of Councillors

They've just adjourned the meeting after if fell into chaos. Lots of shouting and aggressive behaviour from the Councillors. I don't think anyone knows what's going on - least of all me. I've sent for more popcorn.

The Borough Solicitor is a chap called Alex Bougatef, though it sounds like a special offer at Morrisons in normal speech. He says - and he will need all of his 'soft skills' tonight -

Over the years I believe I have developed certain attributes, in particular an ability to remain patient and operate with a calmness of thought when under pressure. I believe these traits, along with my communication, interpersonal and soft skills have helped me significantly in previous roles.

PS The commentator Mr Raja Miah MBE is kindly giving some background information. Raja Miah which I find helpful.

PPS The meeting has now been abandoned. It is rumoured that Councillor Hince was called a Nazi, and the accuser refused to apologise. I can imagine why that is the case. This a picture of him.

If this was a school or hospital - special measures would be imposed. Sack 'em all - says I.

► Show Spoiler

PPS Later that same evening.
Riot Police attend Council meeting. The two top Tories Quigg and Sheldon were squaring up. They call that 'blue on blue'. The return fixture will be interesting.

I bumped into this last night from Martin Zero, an under rated youtuber. I thought it was brilliant.

See the pennies standing on edge whilst the engine is running - and the fact that the coal comes from Columbia !

I'm glad people are still watching the engine. I put eight years of my life into it and have never regretted it. It's 40 years since I first laid eyes on it. Kev will recognise the mates to his name plates.....
