Morning

A quiet day yesterday though we did take a short walk to the local postoffice in the afternoon as Bob had a parcel to post. I didn’t do yoga as I could not breathe when I lay down. Apart from a runny nose I do not feel ill. The jigsaw is progressing nicely and we may finish it today. This afternoon I have a hospital appointment re my high cholesterol and my inability to take statins or other alternatives. My GP tells me there is an alternative now in the form of an injection and we shall see what the clinic says . I shall walk to the hospital as it is only a mile away.

Its foggy and 1 degree , no precipitation of note is forecast. Have a good day all

Sue, I had a look on Google and there's several such injections now in use. This British Heart Foundation web page describes the main ones...
`4 statin alternatives that lower cholesterol' BHF
You might have already looked them up but you're a busy lady and might not have had the time to do it. :extrawink:

Thanks . The Consultant was very helpful indeed. We discussed all the various options and problems associated with each one, and have come up with a possible solution to try, not an injection as I don't meet the criteria at this stage.Number 1 on the list I have side effects , number 2 on the list is likely to do the same but i may try it in the future. We did discuss this option . Numbers 3 and 4 I do not meet the criteria for giving it at this stage.

Thank God I don't need to discuss any options, all I have to do is survive! Best of luck Sue with whatever you decide.
I shall be in the shed for my daily dose of therapy and then stick firmly indoors for at least two days as it is horrible out there. :biggrin2:

A revision..... I realised it was only just 11C in the workshop despite the radiator. I don't need that! I am declining the shed, having an early breakfast and going back to bed. This is exceptional weather, no good pretending any different.

Morning

Its -4 degrees, due to go up to zero and no precipitation. Its a beautiful dawn, I think we had a light covering of now but it may be frost but I shall see when I go out to feed the birds. . I have just woken after a good nights sleep and hopefully my cold symptoms will start to ease today. I wore a mask for my hospital appointment, no point infecting everyone, but I did not walk there as it was treacherous under foot.

I am at Maxine's this afternoon but I will check with her first wether she wants me to go because of my cold. Otherwise I have zoom pilates but that also depends on wether I can breathe when I lie dow. I didn’t do the class yesterday. I still feel fine in myself though. This is a good old fashioned simple cold. No fancy names for it. 🤣🤧.

Have a good day all

I hope you're right Sue and your cold starts to ease. At the moment it's -6C here, -9C with the wind chill and yes, we are promised a brief bit of sub-tropical 0C!
I have put a thick woollen jumper on for the first time in years......
I watched my neighbours going out to work earlier this morning, they were slipping and sliding as they went up the back street. At one point there was smoke or steam billowing down the street from a house on Wellhouse Street. I was considering calling the fire brigade but couldn't see any flames and it subsided after a few minutes. But whatever it was, it wasn't good news!

It's colder than yesterday in the shed, barely 10C, so I am cancelling work on the engine and putting a chicken in to roast instead. Later I shall order ,y meat off Stuart and consider veggie cooking tomorrow. One thing is certain, I shall not be going out!

Morning

Another very cold dry day, this reminds me of the 60 s in the North East when days like this continued for weeks and the heavy snows stayed till March. Not that we have had heavy snow here, barely a sprinkling, unlike Wendy .

It was another night of 9 hours sleep and I do seem to be over my cold. Today we are meeting friends for lunch in Delph. Jean was my room mate when we were at university, her husband is also called Bob. Very confusing when we are together 🤣. We have been trying to have a meal together for the last 5 years but covid and ill health in both families messed things up.

We have no other plans, have a good day all

Morning Sue, glad you are feeling improved! You are braver than I am, I will not be going out!
I've had my second sleep and am ready to deal with my chicken. The kitchen is nice and warm with the oven being on!
I've ordered my meat for delivery tomorrow and am ready to cook veggies but not today.

We've been having sniffles, sneezes, `frog in throat' etc but no real illness ever since Covid. Many of our friends have the same experience. Probably all of us had Covid at some point, even if it was only mild (or even symptom-free at the time) and I've suspected that these continuing minor respiratory troubles are probably a remaining disturbance of our immune system. So I was interested to see this article...
`How Covid could still be affecting your immune system, five years on' i newspaper

It wouldn't let me in to the site Peter..... But I wouldn't be surprised if long term effects are confirmed. I have the evidence of daughter Susan's Sarcoidosis and I have had a runny nose ever since but would agree that that might be old age!
There will be no shed today as it is too cold. Later this morning I shall be veggie cooking but before that I might replace the battery on my V6 Dyson hand held cleaner. That was what the courier was bringing yesterday. I shall report later.....
Meanwhile.... here's what is causing the problem with my going out!

Morning

It wouldn’t let me in either. However I know that the medical issues I have stretch back a lot further than covid and my tendency to have lingering colds goes back to when I had ME back in the. 80 s, but then it has been suggested that ME and Long Covid have similar long term effects on the immune system .

This morning is another beautiful dawn and crisp start like yesterday though yesterday turned to thick fog here which lingered all day , but was not there on our trip to Delph where we had a nice lunch. The Old Bell does a Senior Citizens three course meal, just nice size portions and a nice sized hole in the pocket to match, I still managed to leave some and as usual did not have dessert. We had a good long chat with our friends and were home about 3.30, back into the thick fog.

Today we have few plans, no meal out as we ate out yesterday. It would be nice to have a walk but I think it is still treacherous under foot, so it's back to jigsaw number 4 and a bit of sewing. Have a good day all

That sounds like a plan Sue. Take no chances, we all know how serious a fall can be, particularly as you get older. We have a clear sky but it is hardly daylight. I have started the day well with the revival of my cleaner. I shall continue the good work by cooking veggies.
But first I will have a hot drink......

Once again, it's too cold in the shed and I shall not be going in. The cold is penetrating the structure and it's colder now than ever, only 7C even with the radiator fighting to cope. It's not a big radiator so this is all to be expected.
Instead I shall be cutting my pork belly into bite size chunks and getting it going in the slow cooker with the usual herbs and spices!
Later at 05:20. My belly pork is cut up and cooking..... :good:

Morning

Another clear beautiful dawn. Yesterday was a lovely day with direct sun managing to thaw a bit of ice which then flowed over the top pf the frozen stuff making it even more treacherous. Needless to say we stayed inside. Bob went in his workshop at the back of the garage, a completely enclosed room with old lounge carpet on the floor and radiators, i did some washing , sewing repairs, genealogy for a friend and jigsaw.

Today we will be packing for our annual trip to the Lakes. The weather we are having is what we usually get when we are there. This year we are forecast 9 degrees and after the first couple of days probably dry. Have a good day all

Morning Sue..... Yes, you might have a completely different experience in the Lakes. If anything, it's colder in my shed this morning because the frost has had time to penetrate. I fear that even when the frost retreats it will be too cold in there for me.
But I'm not fretting about it, I am getting on with life and watching the world through my kitchen window.....

It's strange that neither you nor Sue could get into that `i' web site. It doesn't let me into the current day's stories but that one is a few days old. They don't have any cookies on my PC. The page opened for me with a lower banner asking me to manage my access. I clicked that and then agreed to what it showed and I was then in. My Firefox is set to delete all cookies when I exit Firefox except the Exceptions I have set and the `i' isn't one of those. Yet it opened OK again this morning.

Very odd. Mrs Tiz has just tried it on her own PC and she can get in like I can. All that comes up is a Manage Settings banner, we click it and then it's fully open. The same if I google the paper and use the link to open its home page.

I shall not lose any sleep about not being able to read the paper..... :biggrin2:
I shall decline the shed again this morning even though it is three degrees warmer than yesterday. An early breakfast and a good second sleep will do more for my wellbeing!
Apart from that I shall be watching the progress of the slow thaw that has started already.... I want to get out for a walk but I am not going to take any chances. I find that everything I do these days is directed towards that one criterion, my wellbeing. It would be a shame to have come this far and then to spoil my record with a thoughtless act!

Morning

Another beautiful warm red glow across the hills as the sun rises and no rain/ snow forecast. Itss due to be 0 degrees so still no major thaw. It should not hinder our drive to Langdale where the same is forecast. We are picking up the weeks groceries at Tesco on the way up and have done the usual fridge clear out. This year we have no left over Christmas food, mainly because we didn’t buy much but also our visitors post Christmas helped with the eating up. We do have lots of meat, including a joint of beef, from our Christmas meat order from Rays on Bacup market and that will be accompanying us. It will be a casual drive up today. Have a good day all .
