Morning

The weather was not too bad yesterday, yes a bit gloomy but not foggy, there were even sunny periods as we drove down from the Lakes by the scenic route. After a coffee near Settle we programmed the sat nav for Heptonstall but it was some time before we realised we were being directed Hebden Bridge way, which was pointless as the road between the two collapsed some weeks ago.

After a bit we reprogrammed to take us over Widdup moor and as we driving over the moorland towards Widdup I realised we were near Wendy’s. She and I had quite a conversation on messenger and we found we had just passed her place. The route was a bit narrow and winding all the way from there but it worked arriving with 45 minutes to spare. We went in the White Lion pub for a drink and a toilet stop to find there were quite a few others in there going to the funeral.

Afterwards we had to drive back to Tod for the wake again avoiding the collapsed road. The sat nav took us over more wild and nartow roads, including down a steep narrow road, which the local farmer had blocked with a hay bale. He obviously had got tired of people going down HIS road. We had to do a 10 point turn with another car behind us. It took 45 minutes to get to Tod, so by 4.00 pm the delicious pub grub was very welcome, having only had breakfast a coffee and a soft drink all day.

We left there around 5.00pm coming back here the quick route via Burnley a petrol station and the motorways , arriving back at 7.10 pm it was a long day but a real drive through my family history for me eg Briercliffe and the Nutters, Widdup moor and the Widdups, Burnley and past Walk Mill and the Proctors who ran a mill there, even past the cemetery where so many of the family are buried. Not quite as much fun for Bob though who was driving .

This morning I have to take a thin fleece back to the outdoor shop in Hawkshead as it is too small , this afternoon will be a walk round Loughrigg tarn, and that will bring our week to an end. Its back home tomorrow. Not sure of todays weather, have a good day all.

Morning Sue, that sounds like quite a day! We are told the dunkelflaute will relent this morning but I'll believe it when I see it! As you start your day I go back to bed for an hour or so.... I've just had my breakfast and a sleep will be good....

I shall be in the shed doing useful things with my hands first thing. Later I have some meat that needs cooking and I might extend the veggies a touch..... There will be no great incentive to go outside, very similar to yesterday and even more of a wind chill!

This morning I finished cutting the connecting rod out of the stock and marked and drilled the holes in the foot for the bolts that hold the crank pin brass together. Tomorrow I shall counterbore the holes in the brass to give me enough thread to attach the rod. That was a quiet and careful hour with good error free progress. The next task is to find my breakfast!

Thanks for that Sue. All I can say is it seems to suit me! However, it looks as though I might have been doing the right thing all along..... :biggrin2:
PS. I'm back up after second sleep and have just loaded my belly pork into the slow cooker and some swede and onion to extend the veggies.....

The task today was to counterbore the holes in the crank brass so as to give enough thread to get the nuts onto the bolts on the foot of the connecting rod. Part of that was reducing the thickness of the foot. Once that was done and the holes adjusted to fit the bolts I mounted the con rod and brass in the mill and cut each side down until the foot of the rod matched the thickness of the brass. That done I am now in a position to cut down the thickness of the small end of the tod and fit it to the crosshead. That's for tomorrow. At the moment my sights are fixed on breakfast!

Morning

Off to Tod first thing this morning and back for a latish lunch. This evening I have zoom yoga and after nearly 5 weeks of not doing it either due to class closures or ill health I think I will find it hard going. I have towels to wash sometime during the day, and the bird feeders to top up. The birds will wonder where I am. Have a good day all

I feel a new Stanley portrait is in order, either that or you need to get a grandchild round to instruct you in the art of the selfie :biggrin2:

How about popping in and doing another portrait Kev?
I shall put a chicken in to roast before going in the shed. We shall see how the day goes......
Later at 06:00. The chicken is in the oven and I have declined the shed this morning because it's a complicated job in prospect and I'd rather come to it fresh. There is no rush to finish the engine!

Morning

The talk went well yesterday and there were other interesting presentations from group members, I must make the effort to skip french once a month to get to the meeting. I have sent you the talk script by email Stanley.

We were going to walk to Rochdale this morning but it depends on how heavy the forecast rain is. This afternoon I have a routine medical at the Drs. I had a random message inviting me so I said yes but I am not sure why I had the invite and the receptionist was not clear about why so we shall see, perhaps its my ‘new’ age after last week’s birthday. I just hope they are prompt because the appointment is late afternoon and I have to get back in the traffic intime to get changed and get down to the studio for pilates and yoga. Yesterday’s zoom class went well and it was obvious that I am now recovered from my various virus infections.

So thats my day, have a good one.m

Sorry to report that I can't open Sue's article in order to save it as a normal Word format and copy it to the site.
I'm sure there is a way to do this from pdf but unfortunately it's beyond my capabilities!

This morning I did some careful measuring and then cut the small end of the con rod down to fit the crosshead and drilled it for the crosshead pivot bolt. Then I pulled the piston out and started building the crankshaft end up ready for fitting the brass to the bearing and then checking things like the stroke of the piston. But first I want my breakfast......

Morning

Would it help if I sent it as an open office document , Stanley. Or which other format would be better. I can save it to various versions of WORD on open office

Its a busy day today. This morning Barbara and I are going to Wendy’s to help pack up her art room. Wendy and Keith are moving to a bungalow near Hollingworth Lake at the end of the month, a thankful move as Wendys mobility and other health issues now makes stairs very difficult . This afternoon I am at Maxine's for a sewing session and this evening I have zoom pilates.

Its thick fog this morning, have a good day all
