Red Cranberry Juice...... That reminds me of a piece of folk medicine from Western Australia. Janet always said that Perth was infection capital of the world. Anyone going on holiday to Thailand took a flagon of the cheapest red cordial available and made every day drinks with it. I think the logic behind this was that the red colouring in the cordial was a very effective prophylactic against infections.... Your cranberry juice could be filling the same function......
I hope you start to see an improvement soon Kev.

Me too. I believe the infection is going there's just some residual inflammation. It's quite uncomfortable.

I looked into all this a long time ago, and I'd be failing in my duty as site sceptic, if I didn't point out this

Summary. Authors' conclusions
After a thorough search, no RCTs which assessed the effectiveness of cranberry juice for the treatment of UTIs were found. Therefore, at the present time, there is no good quality evidence to suggest that it is effective for the treatment of UTIs. Well‐designed parallel group, double blind studies comparing cranberry juice and other cranberry products versus placebo to assess the effectiveness of cranberry juice in treating UTIs are needed. Outcomes should include reduction in symptoms, sterilisation of the urine, side effects and adherence to therapy. Dosage (amount and concentration) and duration of therapy should also be assessed. Consumers and clinicians will welcome the evidence from these studies.
Plain language summary

Still waiting for evidence about whether cranberries are a useful treatment for urinary tract infections

This has all been known for decades, but people seem to want to trust social media, and their hairdresser's sister in law, for medical information rather than accredited, peer reviewed, published research. If you had to market a fairly unpleasant tasting berry - best to endow it with some medicinal properties, and usually give a reference to Red Indians swearing by it  I note that patients always seem to take antibiotics at the same time as cranberry juice, and I'm sure no doctor would just prescribe the fruit juice on its own.

However - once again - take whatever conclusion from this as you wish.

I'm only going on what the doctor said 'a lot of women drink cranberry juice to alleviate symptoms'. I'm not convinced by what he said as I'm still passing 'broken glass' every 30 minutes. I'm onto bicarbonate of soda in a glass of water to see if I can reduce acidity.
I will be joining the virtual queue for the surgery in the morning, I've finished the second course of ABs now...

Drinking (esp Fruit Juices = actually try Lime Juice) . the liquid has to pass out somewhere and it is probably straightforward flushing that does any trick. However I think the science is sound that Cranberries and Grapefruit/Citrus have chemical compounds that aversely interact with heart medications (mainly beta-blockers)

You sound to be in exactly the same position as I was all those years ago Kev. The cure in my case was exactly the right AB prescribed by a lady doctor. I always thought she had a better understanding than a man. I hope the doctors have better luck finding the right cure, I know how miserable it can be,

There was a bit of a mention of Daniel Meadows as photographer I think on a YT vid recently , independent of me the link to Bancroft and Ellen Road got mentioned by someone in the comments.

Oddie's Bakery BBC summary

A victim of Covid , despite the BounceBack things for buisness , compounded by the acceleration of higher product etc costs.

It is difficult running a business and Oddie's to me provided an alternative to Greggs with a better menu and nicer things in the shops. It defined in is operating area East Lancashire as much as Ribble Buses did. Perhaps they should have looked a different locations but as they say the places where the high turnover was lost footfall in a changing total retail climate, also for chains things like Business Rate Relief dont apply if you have too much sq foot overall. Moving away from the area I did miss popping down to Oddie's at that bit of not quite Burnley at Duke Bar as I walked down the road to catch a bus , unfortunately saturday mornings also provided competition from coffee mornings at the Methodist Church.

BBC Radio 4 6.00pm News had 4.58 mins of opening outage - what was the technical difficulty ?

Roberta Flack I hadnt realised she had Motor Neurone Disease for the last three years - why is there still no solution for this condition ?

At Last the Floating Voter could have found a home. There are suggestions for a glass barge like structure on the Thames at Westminster to house parliament while the palace of westminster gets refurbished.

Boris Johnson is back - at least taking interviews about Ukraine - where he seems talking sense . I dont know what to do with Boris , he is so annoying is there a special island we could put these folk to chat among themselves.

Oldish but it has been pointed out to me that Trump as president has taken over USPS, are they not the guys that deliver postal votes for elections?
