Are you sure she will be a real nurse? She might be in disguise, a belated birthday present from some of your old mates!

Re: MEDICAL MATTERS
4th lot of antibiotics started today, getting bored with it now. Hopefully these do the job. Be glad to get rid of the bag of p*ss hanging on my leg too.
I need to be fit for Thursday as I need to go car shopping.

Re: MEDICAL MATTERS
I had a good night's sleep and am feeling a lot more comfortable, a long wait for the catheter removal though. The appointment with urology isn't until the 25th of March, I will need to get more supplies from district nursing.

That seems like a long time Kev. In David's words, I think I would be asking for a steward's enquiry!

Big Kev, I can’t imagine what you are enduring but I am feeling for you.
I know I'm in my own little world, but it's OK... they know me here.

Re: MEDICAL MATTERS
Five months ago I had a 1-inch diameter actinic keratosis (skin lesion) removed from my scalp by curetting (essentially burning it away with an electric wire instead of the old scalpel method). It left a big, thick black scar. I was told it was `thought to be non-cancerous' but I would have to return to have the scar tissue removed and sent to the pathology lab. I would be sent an appointment date for that. It was finally done on Friday. The removed scar has gone to the path lab and again I'm told I will have to return because there is still suspect tissue. Again, I have to wait to be given an appointment date. It's a long and winding road in the NHS!

Re: MEDICAL MATTERS
It may be wise for me to finish the current ABs I got on Friday, the prescription is for 14 days, before I push for removal.

Re: MEDICAL MATTERS
Mum had a friend with something similar. He never had much hair and generally wore a cap - is that the same as you. I dont think it was what finished him off - he was well into his late 70s if not older and not someone to spend time particulary in peak summer sunshine in UK or elsewhere, I wonder if it bacteriological infections that start such things off which body cells get a bit muddled on, more so with aging?Tizer wrote: ↑02 Mar 2025, 10:29 Five months ago I had a 1-inch diameter actinic keratosis (skin lesion) removed from my scalp by curetting (essentially burning it away with an electric wire instead of the old scalpel method). Re: MEDICAL MATTERS
Or Statistics Thread
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c8j09vn2x2ko UK gets to record low in death statistics.
After covid knocked out a lot of people the baseline deaths per 1000 population is back indicating a healthier nation - less pollution, smoking and better health treatments ,
Couple of buts. Deaths by age group seem to show a rise for younger people ages. I think this might be stress . long covid. car incidents.
Also with a population growth driven mainly by immigration presumably only the heathiest can survive the journey to get here.

Peter and Kev, I've said it before and no doubt I will say it again.... I am so lucky!
I wish you both all the best. The good thing is that we are coming into better convalescence weather!

Re: MEDICAL MATTERS
Having had the appointment, for March 25th, I emailed the District Nursing Service at 7am this morning to let them know I'd need more bags. A very nice young lady just delivered 3 weeks worth, you can't fault that.

Re: MEDICAL MATTERS
I was surprised to get a phone call asking me to come to the hospital on Wednesday next week for an interview with a consultant. That's one of the fastest responses I've had in the last decade or two!

Perhaps Labour is doing some good?
I have just had 15 minutes with the foot nurse and she has given me ten out of ten for both feet.
