Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
The eagles are over Budapest. I might not get in the shed this morning. Instead I'll be watching the kids land at LHR. I am always glad to see them arrive safely..... Apart from that I'm not sure. There is nothing demanding my attention but the weather isn't very inviting..... I shall take a view later on....

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
I have to report my kids caught me out! The flight from Perth landed early at LHR and I missed tracking them in....
Never mind. I am glad to see them safely home. Now I have to make a decision, shed or breakfast!
No contest, breakfast. The shed won't hurt if it is ignored for a day.....

Glad they are back ok, we always used to track Julia and Ed on their backwards and forwards to the States when they lived out there and it was always reassuring when they landed.
This morning is art at Haslingden but I also have a lot of washing to do. It should dry outside which is good. I have already put the first load on whilst I have my cuppa in bed. This afternoon will be any ironing it generates plus a bit of sewing . Yesterdays session with Maxine generated a few pieces to do plus i want to finish the toile of Claires shirt.
Its a bit of a murky sky this morning, but a good clear view to the hills beyond Oldham from our bedroom window. Rain is forecast for late this afternoon, or early evening. Have a good day all

I'll be watching an online auction from Colne as I've put a few of my mum's gold and silver jewellery items in the sale. Fingers crossed they do well!
It's worth watching Flight Radar and the skies for a final parade of Puma helicopters which leaves Barton Airport at around 10.30 am heading for Catterick via Settle and Ribblehead. That route could well take them above Barnoldswick.

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
I was quite anxious about there being no reserve on the items but when I phoned yesterday they reassured me that there is a hidden reserve on the larger value items. Lots 44 to 47 if you are interested!

I watched your lots on the auction Wendy (and I'm still watching...!) It's fascinating. First time I've watched a live online auction and I think I will have to register as a seller. Mrs PostmanPete is very pleased that I 'might' be having a clearout of all the stuff I've hoarded over the years...!

Very happy Kev! There is no commission on gold just a flat ,handling fee. I'm not sure what happened with the silver bangles, perhaps they didn't meet the hidden estimate.

They were running late and didn't land at Barton Airport, they disappeared off Flight Radar so I lost them. My friend who lives in Ramsbottom saw them!

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
I gave up on the Pumas after a while. There were two Pumas with the call sign Warlock1 and 2 at Barton at about 10:15..... I think they originated at Valley.
Susan and Mick are back in the motorhome down in Kent so I shall not be glued to FlightRadar. I shall be in the shed first thing refining castings. We are promised a showery day so I shall take a view on a walk later after second sleep.

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
Sorry I missed yesterday, I was occupied in seeing my daughter Susan safely back to UK after 3 months in Oz. Normal service resumed today. I always say that once we have our castings the right size and shape we start cutting chunks out of them. Today I used the packing as a template and drilled the necessary holes in the steam chest lid. Then I used the lid as a template to mark the steam chest itself and drilled the clearance holes for the 4BA studs that fasten it to the cylinder. Then I marked the position of the steam admission pipe and drilled and tapped it. That was a good productive 45 minutes with no mistakes, just how I like it! Now for breakfast.....

The one I am on does that. I also get a daily update of what is for sale when and where, clicking on it takes me to the live auction which I can then watch . I can then register on that auction if I want. I never have but its a fascinating thing to watch or listen to. I once went with a friend to a live auction in Calderdale . It was a fun mornings outing and I came back with a large battered pine bedding box that no one wanted to buy. It cost me £15 and what a good buy it was. I renovated it giving it a good wash, a light sand and a surface treatment of a light varnish and polish. All the bashes and marks gave it character. It now sits on the mezzanine in our house in France and contains all my spare bedding. Best £15 I ever spent.
Today we are driving to Wells. Bob is delivering a training course on boiler testing tomorrow. I shall spend the day in Wells where I have never been before. We are staying in a Premier Inn a convenient walking distance from the centre and will drive back on Sunday. I intend going in the cathedral the name of which constantly makes me think of a certain episode of Blackadder. Where the Bishop of Bath and Wells was blackmailed by Blackadder. You either know that very funny episode or you do not. Blackadder 2 was always the best.
The forecast is Ok, a bit or rain today and very light showers tomorrow afternoon. Have a good day all.

Today we are in the shed early doors drilling more holes in my castings! I think I can say with some confidence that I shan't bother with a walk today, we are looking at rain and a cold wind. I shall be better off indoors doing domestic things for exercise!

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
I started the day by making and fitting the steam and exhaust pipes to the cylinder and steam chest. Then I marked the cylinder valve face for the long studs that will hold the steam chest assembly on the face. The picture is of the cylinder on the pillar drill with all the holes for the studs drilled tapping size. Tomorrow morning I will tap them and fit the steam chest to the cylinder. A nice 45 minutes and now I'm looking forwards to my breakfast.
I hope Bob's talk goes well!

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
Morning
We made good time yesterday. We left Rochdale about 9.15 am calling at our local buttie shop to buy the best value, biggest ham and salad barm cake sandwich that you can imagine. We stopped about 11 for a coffee and again at 1.00 for our sandwich lunch. We arrived in Wells around 3.00 pm. After a cuppa in our room we had a walk around to stretch our legs. It was sunny but a very cold wind.
Today Bob will leave the hotel about 8.30 , I will probably wait till about 10 before I start my sight seeing trip of the Cathedral, Bishops Palace, museum etc. There are a few shops to browse including a fabric shop. Apparently Wells is the second smallest city in England covering just 2 plus square miles so I think I should cover it in my day. We will probably meet back at the hotel about 5.00 ish. During the day I shall book us a table for tonights meal. Its due to be mainly sunny with the wind having died down. Have a good day all.
