Re: TODAY'S PENNINE WEATHER
Unusually for me - I've just looked at the holiday weather forecast.
I normally get my weather information by looking out of the front window.
It doesn't look encouraging for the whole three days especially for the Western side of the country, and that's putting it kindly. .
The statisticians are going to have to work hard to make it the hottest April since records began - for they surely will.

Re: TODAY'S PENNINE WEATHER
You've just reminded me David, today is Good Friday..... But it's a long time since the Established Religion had any influence on my life.....
Yesterday was mainly dry and bright but by nightfall had reverted to overcast. This morning it's calm, overcast and we have evidence of a light shower during the night. The glass has risen to 1009mb and the forecast is for overcast skies until midday when we can expect the advent of rain. The constant easterly winds will be moderate and they give us a high of 13C and a low of 6C tonight with a wind chill of -3C for most of the day. The Easter weekend will be cool but dry and will warm and brighten slightly towards the end of the week.

Re: TODAY'S PENNINE WEATHER
Yesterday was dull with spatters of raindrops except for one short spell in the late afternoon when it actually rained, significant rain! This morning is breezy and overcast but dry. The glass is steady on 1008mb and the forecast is for an overcast but dry day. The constant East wind is moderate all day and gusts to almost 35mph. We can expect a high of 12C a low of 2C tonight and a wind chill of -4C for most of the day. The outlook is for brighter and warmer weather but not much. Don't get too excited!

It was much the same here Stanley, odd spatters all day then late on a significant fall. It’s fine this morning, a light breeze and not too chilly.

Re: TODAY'S PENNINE WEATHER
Yesterday afternoon was bright but overcast, we had some weak watery sun peeping out under the cloud at dusk. This morning it was breezy and cool with broken overcast. The glass is steady on 1008mb and the forecast is for a brighter day with a morning of sunny intervals and an afternoon of full sun.... The steady easterly winds are moderate and allow us a high of 13C and a low of 5C tonight with a -3C wind chill early in the day. It could be quite pleasant this afternoon. Tomorrow will be cooler and wet then after that we can expect warmer and brighter weather.

Re: TODAY'S PENNINE WEATHER
Yesterday was true to the forecast after a very slow start. It reverted to bright overcast in the early evening and this morning we had overcast and it was cool but dry. The glass is down on 1005mb and the forecast is for heavy rain all day from 08:00 onwards. The mainly southerly winds will be light and allow us a high of 11C and a low of 4C tonight with only a -2C wind chill. The outlook is for brighter, warmer dry weather.
Later at 07:00. It's started raining.....

Re: TODAY'S PENNINE WEATHER
It seems there was / is a wid(ish) strip of rain from top to bottom of England and most of Scotland. London has had it a bit rainly from drizzle to mizzle and a touch of wind but some sunny spells which were warm, basically not the worst , but not the best, of a British Bank Holiday. ( I see I said rainly for rainy but maybe that is a better description ).
I do say SW London but to be honest from the present vantage point by climbin up the chimby I couldst see acros to Wembly , if it were not for the ouses in betwen .

Re: TODAY'S PENNINE WEATHER
Yesterday was mostly overcast and damp as per the forecast but at no point was it heavy or even moderately heavy rain. By nightfall it had brightened and we had clear skies for much of the night. This morning we have broken overcast on a calm dry morning. The glass is up on 1010mb and rising slowly. The forecast is for a day of sunny intervals with the chance of a light shower midday or early afternoon. The mainly SW wind will be light. The high will be 14C and the low tonight 7C with a wind chill of perhaps -2C for most of the day. Look for similar weather all week with a gradual improvement.

Re: TODAY'S PENNINE WEATHER
Yesterday the forecast let us down, we didn't see much of the sun until late in the afternoon and had a couple of showers. This morning we have a light breeze, broken overcast and it's dry. The glass is down a touch on just below 1009mb and the forecast is for a dry day with sunny intervals. The constant Easterly winds will be moderate and we can expect a high of 15C and a low of 5C tonight. The wind chill will be -2C all day. The outlook is for similar dry weather and gradually increasing temperatures....

Re: TODAY'S PENNINE WEATHER
I've been for my walk and a shop at the Co-op. I'm back home now and my pork belly is cut up and in the slow cooker arguing with 5 small oranges and the usual herbs and spices. Nice to sit down.
It's lovely out there but that wind still has a nip. Perhaps it will warm up this afternoon.

Re: TODAY'S PENNINE WEATHER
I start the slow cooker pot up with a teaspoon of curry powder, an Oxo cube salt and a glug of unfiltered apple cyder vinegar. Then I top and tail three oranges (Or as was the case yesterday, five small ones.) And dice them, peel. pith and all. Then attack the pork, split it down the centre so you have two sheets, one with the skin and one with all the bones and cartilage in. Dice all that into bite size chunks chuck it all in the slow cooker and add a tin of chopped tomatoes. Put on high until it starts simmering, give it a good stir and switch to low then leave it until the fat has separated and risen to the top. I ladle the gravy off and put it in the freezer to separate the fat, then put it back in with the pork and cook on low until it is just how you want it.
I guarantee it will put a skin on your back like velvet!
Now back to the weather!
Yesterday was brilliant until early afternoon when it reverted to bright overcast for the rest of the day. Weather reports said that other areas were having a lot of rain but I never saw any. The glass rose steadily all day. This morning it was calm, broken overcast and dry. The glass has risen to 1020mb and the forecast is for a dry day with sunny intervals all day. The constant easterly wind will be light and we can expect a high of 14C and a low tonight of 5C with a -2C wind chill for much of the day. Tomorrow will be a re-run of today and Saturday could be overcast with perhaps a shower. After that we can expect bright sunny weather with rising temperatures.
