I I have had second sleep and am off for a walk as it is still dry. I have no doubt I can find a couple of shelf fillers at the Co-op.

Morning Sue, that sounds like a good day in Derby.... I looked the museum up and it appears to be an interesting place.... Glad you had a good journey and I think your Fuschias have a good chance of recovering!

I shall be in the shed early doors working on my engine and thereby prolonging my life! (Everyone should have a shed, it's good for you!)
After that almost certainly a day indoors. The wind will be cold and there's a good chance of rain. I rust easily.....

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
This morning I carried on with the steam valve. At the end of almost an hour of honest endeavour I had finished all the major dimensions, cut the slot for the driver bar and fitted it. I have only the exhaust pocket to cut in the base and then I can fit the valve to the cylinder but I have done enough this morning and now I am going to have my breakfast.

Morning
All tasks accomplished yesterday but it took some time. I was just sitting relaxing with a cuppa when our friend Kath ( the retired hairdresser) turned up. She stayed for a couple of hours chatting as we sat in the conservatory. She was still here when Bob got back from the park. I had cut her some rhubarb and we had some in a crumble too with our evening meal. It was the first cut and very nice indeed.
Its another sunny start but due to get cloudy and windy. We are having a walk down to the bank this morning with the takings from the train, then I shall go up to Rooley Moor to pop a condolences card through the letter box of my pilates teacher. This afternoon I may sew, and this evening I will try the yoga class to see if my groin injury is now ok. It hasn’t bothered me for a couple of days despite walking several miles round Derby on Saturday. Have a good day all

Yes, we are having a bright sunny day but a cold wind. We are promised heavy overcast and rain any time now but you never know with Barlick. Sometimes we get west coast weather and sometimes the east. They can be completely different.

I shall be in the shed first thing doing useful things to my valve. After second sleep I will brave the overcast and go to Well for my meds. I might do some veggie shopping at the same time for the more heavy durable items, I can see cooking raising its head again!

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
Continuing work on the fitting of the steam valve. First I took another cut across the base of the slot for the driver as I wasn't quite satisfied with the depth I had reached. Then I drilled the valve for the valve rod using the surface plate as a base for the steam chest and valve assembly to make sure I had it aligned properly. Next I fitted the driver and marked it and the valve with witness marks. Then I marked it with the 5/32" drill to establish the position of the valve rod. Under the pillar drill with the driver and I drilled and tapped it 4BA for the eventual thread on the valve rod. Then I mounted the valve in the VM again and using the 1/4" end mill I cut out the bottom of the valve to allow the exhaust to get out. Last job of the morning I touched the big cutter up in the T&C grinder, refitted it in the mill and put the 1/4" cutter away. That was a good productive 45 minutes.... Now for breakfast!

Morning
I spent the afternoon yesterday trying to rectify a dress I am making. In the end I carefully folded it up and put it on one side for a Maxine session in two weeks. Yoga was hard but because of my arthritic thumb, I seem to be falling apart
. This morning I will try to get a GP appointment to see if I can arrange the steroid injection that was suggested last October.
We have a few bits and pieces of jobs to do today which will require us to go out in the car. Bob has a large old Westminster Bank sign that was his Dads and we are donating it to a local coffee shop in the renovated mill where I have pilates. They have a wonderful collecting of antiques and collectibles as decoration that have been donated by locals, and we would rather it was there than hidden in our garage . I have run out of white thread so its a trip to Dunelm as well.
Its a damp start to the day but not wet, the garden and pond could do with a good downpour. The cooler day should help my few surviving fuchsias. They mainly have crinkled leaves and look dead. I have had to order some more. Have a good day all

I hope your Fuschias surprise you Sue. Tomorrow could be a lot worse weather than today so it might be good to get done as much as possible rather than leave it until tomorrow. I shall be going for my meds and some of my veggies..... I can think of a couple of more things that can be sourced in the Town Square.....

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
One simple job, cut a piece of 5/32" stainless rod to length and thread it at each end 4BA. Then fit it to the valve and driver. Now I'm ready to make the clevis out of the 1/4" square material but that's for tomorrow. On good job done each morning suits my book! Now for breakfast.

Morning
I managed to get my GP consultation yesterday, getting the last telephone appointment with yet another unknown Dr. He phoned at 1.00 and whilst we were talking he filled in the necessary request for me to have an X ray, which I had yesterday afternoon at our local hospital. Bob took me down and I walked the 1 .00 mile back up the hill. The GP also made me another appointment with another of the practice next Thursday to review the result. This second GP is the one who normally gives steroid joint injections so we shall see. It was all very efficient once I got that initial appointment.
Today is sun showers and wind all day. It will not bother me as I have a zoom art lesson with Jeremy Ford. This evening is zoom pilates. Have a good day all

Good to hear the system worked for you Sue. I hope you get a result.
We have mizzle and a cold wind, I have just got back home for completing my veggie shopping. Why did it cost me over £20?

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
I shall get my chicken in the oven before going in the shed to work on my Clevis.... We are promised a dry day so I might be chancing a walk when I have dealt with my chicken. Tomorrow is veggie cooking day!
Later at 05:30.... That was half an hour of honest endeavour. I have got my meals ready from the last of the veggies, washed the pans and got my chicken ready for roasting and into the oven. Now I shall sit down for a few minutes. I might even decline the shed this morning....
Later..... I've decided, bugger the shed, I shall have my breakfast and go back to bed.

Morning
I am awake early so thought I would write my post and then get on with my Duolingo french. I enjoyed my zoom art workshop yesterday and it was certainly a good occupation for a cold rainy day. The day however ended on a sad note as Wendy informed me of yet another death . This time it was the daughter of the ex work colleague whose husband died suddenly in October. I feel for for as she will now be all alone and in poor health herself.
Today is art at Haslingden followed by our ´end of term’ lunch at a very nice pub near Rawtenstall. Bob and Keith will join us. This afternoon will be a sewing one as I have a summer top to finish. I think it is due to be a little drier and hopefully warmer today. Have a good day all

If our weather is anything to go by you must be pleased with yours Sue. As for deaths.... My friends have a nasty habit of dropping off the perch when you're not looking. The older you get the more it happens.
That brings to mind a quotation often wrongly attributed to Sun Tzu.... If you wait" by the river long enough, the bodies of your enemies will float by.”
That could also read the bodies of your friends as well.....

I have adopted Big Kev's pepper plant as it has outgrown his kitchen windowsill. It was good to see him and have a natter. It was also a lovely day for a walk, not with Sally as she was otherwise engaged, but with Val, my neighbour at Ninevah, We walked from Ballgrove to Wycoller, dropping into Trawden for lunch sat outside in the sun at the Old Rock Cafe, before heading back through Winewall.

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
All this talk of walking for miles makes me envious. If I do a mile it's a red letter day!
I shall be in the shed first thing making the clevis for my valve rod.... Not a lot of chance of a walk as it will start raining at midday and I shall be cooking veggies anyway! Never mind, it will not be a wasted day.

It was a lovely afternoon to have a chat and enjoy the view from up on the mountain. There was plenty of wildlife to see and hear, a very vocal pheasant, young lambs and of course Wendy's collection of chickens. Hopefully the pepper plant will thrive in the polytunnel

Morning
My great aunt at 99 used to look in the obituaries every day . She said there was no one left to die that she knew only herself. If her name wasn’t there she was still alive and could face another day. She died in a home just short of her 100 th birthday. We shared a birthday, I am aiming for that 100
This morning its a quick exit after breakfast to go to Burnley cemetery to put flowers for Mums birthday on the family grave. Then its home to change and off out to lunch at the Lake with the wine group . Afterwards we are all going back to Wendys for a coffee. It will be late afternoon when we are home .
Showers are forecast, have a good day all

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
Ball Grove Country Park runs from Winewall through to Laneshawbridge along Colne Water. It was the site of Sagar's Tannery but just the mill pond remains. There is a useful car park and a good cafe. If you walk through to Laneshawbridge the path continues on into Wycoller. We then go over the hill past Germany Farm and Stunstead, coming out by Trawden Rec. There is an old bridleway along the hillside which takes you back to Winewall ....past the old Inghamite Chapel...and back into the park. The normal circular walk is about 5.3 miles but yesterday we went down into Trawden to the Old Rock Cafe which I can highly recommend! I think it was about 6 miles but I forgot to stop my OS app and it added the journey home.
While I'm talking about Trawden I can also recommend a visit to the Community Shop which is stocked with good wholesome stuff!
Here's one I did earlier!
