Tonight we will be sharing a baked Camembert.

I mixed a sourdough loaf yesterday and put it in the fridge for a slow rise overnight, It not done much in that regard so I have lifted it out to see if coming up to room temperature will help. Cant understand why it hasn't risen like it should, I fed my starter yesterday for the bake and it was very active when took out 125g for the dough, it smoothed out as normal with the stretch and folds before I set it up in the Banneton. No worries, it will not spoil for a longer slow rise.

For the bread for dipping I have changed tack and done a straight bloomer mix which is doing it's first prove as a I post. I will divide the dough into six when I knock it back and bake it off in my 6 x mini loaf tin. We can freeze any that we don't eat. I'll bake the sourdough when its argued with itself long enough.

I have pork sausages that I will roast to accompany the cheese and I think I will knock up a bit of a vine tomato and onion salsa for the side.

That sounds divine Ian, we're just having a roast beef dinner. I picked up a 1kg joint in Aldi yesterday.

I'm not - quite the opposite. Here's part of the reason why. . . . .

I had the long postponed Big Mac and fries on Wednesday. Must be several years since I had one. The experience wasn't a total success.
It's a drive through - and I was astounded by the level of traffic on the roads. It felt like a Friday evening rush hour.

I recklessly added an apple pie, and a Mc Flurry ice cream, and managed to speak to a hole in the wall with less embarassment than I ususally do. A quick tap of the card and I was instantly relieved of £10. 76. I drove straight home - about ten - fifteen minutes - and put the fries in the air fryer, to perk them up. They seem to have changed the Big Mac bun to a brioche type, which is quite sweet, and not an improvement. The sauce is of course unique and still very good. Why does the pickle taste better than any I can buy in a jar?

Post match analysis shows that from Aldi, I could have got a kilo of fries. to be thrown in the air fryer, a ribeye steak, and half a litre of chocolate brownie ice cream for a total of £8.80. (Lots of extras left for the next steak. so total cost per meal of about £7.00)

That's the way to go next time I'd say, and no driving involved.

As I told my Oncologist once.... "Food is far more addictive than any drug!" Hard luck David, I would put weight on with that diet as well!
I had meat and veggies for Breakfast and tea but oat cakes, a tomato and a knob of cheddar for dinner.

Its Hot Cross Bun season and the less cheap ones are 4 packs at M and S . Cheese ones . makes a change from a cheese scone, a bit chewy. Thought I would get Apple ones too, they still had raisens in them. Sweet and I could not be bothered to toast. Only really got them as M and S Food are at the hospital where I had to accompany mum on a day trip to have a suspect bit on her back looked at, its ok but I will have to up the washing and moisturising regieme a little bit

The topping for my oatcake snack at dinnertime yesterday was tinned mackerel in hot and spicy sauce with a boiled egg topping. I recommend it! Two helpings of meat and veggies for breakfast and tea.

Eldest offspring and his wife are coming for tea today, I am making focaccia and a seafood pasta. The shellfish has defrosted overnight in the fridge, the king prawns, haddock and salmon can be cooked from frozen. It'll be in a bechamel sauce with padano cheese, onions, garlic, basil and oregano served with rigatoni pasta. Pudding is cheese, grapes, strawberries, chocolate a shot of Limoncello and then coffee to finish.

There are focaccia pics in the Daily Bread Thread https://www.oneguyfrombarlick.co.uk/vie ... &start=275

Very continental Kev, sound excellent even though I don't do seafood, enjoy

Grilled gammon for me with egg, tomato and air fried wedges as we have some redskin spuds to use up.

I had the very last helping of last week's batch for breakfast, nothing for dinner beyond nibbles of what I was cooking and straight veggies for tea from today's cooking. Very clean fresh taste. Carl delivered my meat, I have a slab of pork belly waiting in the fridge for it's moment! The next chicken and legs are in the freezer.
