Re: WHAT ATTRACTED YOUR ATTENTION TODAY?
Warnings about site security and the lack of images in Stanley's posts.
Re: WHAT ATTRACTED YOUR ATTENTION TODAY?
It looks like a security cert has expired, if I have time I'll take a look but work is busy today.
I can see the image in Stanley's 'shed' post.

Re: WHAT ATTRACTED YOUR ATTENTION TODAY?
Here's the image that appeared on Cathy's i-Player screen. and this was when she mailed me to say she had lost the site.

I got a message from Firefox saying it had killed the site because its security certificate had run out. It gave me advanced options, one was to ignore the warning of terrible things and carry on regardless. I took that and got back in. I told Cathy about this but don't know what she was able to do.

Re: WHAT ATTRACTED YOUR ATTENTION TODAY?
Yes Gloria but I think they are all sorted now.
The site seems to be running normally this morning......
However, later, as I get into things I find there were no posts yesterday after Cathy first thing in the morning before the certificate issue struck.
I shall carry oin as normal in the hope things improve....

Re: WHAT ATTRACTED YOUR ATTENTION TODAY?
Latest update in the SSL thread in the admin section Stanley. May be out of the woods but it looks like it needs IONOS to install the new certificate. Hopefully it will be attached to the Virtual Server. It was set to auto renew but nothing happened to that effect.

Re: WHAT ATTRACTED YOUR ATTENTION TODAY?
Not quite out of the woods yet Pete, site still doesn't have a valid SSL certificate although I think it may now be in the pipeline. But according to the info it has to actioned by the hosting company techs. We live in hope.

Re: WHAT ATTRACTED YOUR ATTENTION TODAY?
Very little activity on the site yesterday but I carried on as normal as Firefox seems able to cope.

Re: WHAT ATTRACTED YOUR ATTENTION TODAY?
I am at a loss regarding the SSL issue. I think I will have to open a chat session with IONOS to sort it.
To all intents and purposes the certification should automatically renew 30 days before each certificate expires. I found a link yesterday which allowed me to renew manually and target the VPS which I did, I got confirmation of a successful renewal and a note to say it would be actioned by IONOS but nothing has happened, time to speak to a tech I think.
I will get at it his afternoon, we have take our passports to the travel agents this morning and buy a new washing machine, (bearings have gone). Ten years old so not putting good money after bad. I also have to pay Bosoms shop takings in at the banking hub. Oh and set up my sour dough loaf in the Banneton so I can bake it later today.

Re: WHAT ATTRACTED YOUR ATTENTION TODAY?
Unfortunately the certificate warning will deter the majority from proceeding, which is the sensible thing to do. It's only those, with the knowledge of why the site is giving the warning, are continuing. Hopefully Ionos will pull their finger out and apply the new cert.
The warning will deter many

Re: WHAT ATTRACTED YOUR ATTENTION TODAY?
It's not the IONOS side of things Kev. It's more a Plesk issue. Have a look at the SSL thread in the admin console. I would appreciate any comments.

I've downloaded Firefox onto my tablet and am using it now but still no images! The only way I get them is by using my laptop and the dreaded Microsoft Edge.

Re: WHAT ATTRACTED YOUR ATTENTION TODAY?
Sorry to hear that. Perhaps it's something to do with the version for Linux. It told me there was a security problem but gave me options one of which was to ignore the warning which I did and all was well.....

Re: WHAT ATTRACTED YOUR ATTENTION TODAY?
Most browser software will allow you to accept a security issue. Firefox gives a warning of potential doom but if you know the site is safe you can just accept the consequences.
I will press ahead trying to find a simpler solution to get a new SSL certificate on the site. It may be easier although not ideal to just bite the bullet and do it manually every 3 months, (if I can find out how to do it).
Automating it on a VPS is a completely different can of worms to sort out. What I can't understand is that it updated automatically in January of this year but failed in March when it was supposed to update again around 30 days before it expired. I am chasing what procedure controls this, not much joy so far!

Re: WHAT ATTRACTED YOUR ATTENTION TODAY?
The site has been running on the VPS now for 5 years. SSL certification was set up to auto renew as the certificates are only valid for 90 days. They should still and have been, updating 30 days before they expire every quarter since the site went virtual until March of this year when the process failed. That is the crux of the problem.
Not sure whether this is controlled from the IONOS or Plesk control panels. Issue is further clouded in that The IONOS console says the site has a valid certificate until next year. Also the PLESK Server itself which runs on a Linux platform where our virtual server is hosted is protected by its own SSL certificate which is set up to auto renew. SSL certification is Domain based, (i.e. one the oneguyfrombarlick domain name) which is all controlled via IONOS which of course says it has a valid certificate. It makes no sense to me at the moment.
