Morning

We are still waking early, ie on french time but at least i will be ready to go out early as its art at Haslingden this morning. Its a busy day today with the man coming to service the CCTV cameras this morning whilst I am out. Its a quick turnaround at lunchtime as we both have dental checkups then an hour later I have a GP appointment at the other side of town. This is to check the situation with my thumb after the steroid injection a month ago. I should be back home around 4.15 pm . Its due to rain all day, have a good day all

Look in Mystery Objects Sue.
Our heating has been on this morning Sue and it's still raining.
I hope you get a good report on your thumb, these small matters can quite spoil things! My fingers sometimes have a bad spell and I always think how miserable things would be if they were bad all the time....
Wendy got there before me.... :biggrin2:

Stephanie told us that she couldn't find out much about Elslack, but the book is absolutely packed with information!

Morning Wendy, she told me the same and said many people wouldn't talk to her. She said there are a lot of funny people in Elslack...... I told her not to worry about them. she wrote it for us, the people who care.
It's a good cover, I shall read it and she says she wants to know what I think so I'll post an opinion on the site as well as sending it to her.

There's another engine on the table this morning.... I shall go in the shed even so and tidy up a bit. If I am really good I'll lubricate Mrs Harrison. Some time during the day I will unpack the next set of castings. I find that job is best done in broad daylight!
I can't see anything else grabbing my attention apart from a bit of essential housekeeping. The rest of the day will be spent looking after myself....
(Every now and then the fact that I am well into my 90th year crashes in on me and it can be a bit frightening. But these spells never last long and I seem to be able to shrug the years off.... :biggrin2: )

This morning I cleaned and lubricated both surface plates and installed a clean table cloth and then I cleaned and oiled Mrs Harrison. The shed is ready now for the next build..... I deserve my breakfast!

Morning

Its Friday’ thats art at Todmorden and lunch out at the Lake. There will be 6 of us and its the first time we have seen each other since the end of April, I feel a long chat coming on.

Yesterday was busy but the dental check up was painless and quickly over. This new dentist is both very efficient and very thorough. We are impressed. I had plenty of time to drive over to the other side of Rochdale, even managed a cuppa at home in between. The GP was happy with the response and says he can do the injection every 3 months and made an appointment for July .

Today is a high of 13 and cloudy with no rain after about 9.00 am. Have a good day all

Tomorrow I'll be watching out for a possible fly over by the Battle of Britain Flight Lancaster. Its due at Newby Hall near Ripon between 2 and 2.30, then Accrington between 2.30 and 3.00, so every chance it could come this way. :geek:

Thanks for the heads up Wendy. I shall try to remember to watch out for it!
I shall be in the shed early doors deciding where to start on another engine. I unpacked the castings yesterday and recycled what packing I could..... After that I think I shall be watching it rain if the forecast is right.

A nice start to another build. I got the flywheel in the vice and started fettling it with a variety of files and then gave myself a treat by mounting it on the lathe and starting the rough turning which included boring it for the crankshaft which of course is already turned out of the solid. You might notice I treated myself by using the big Jacobs ball bearing chuck. It is the most accurate chuck I have and doesn't get used often enough! Now it's time for breakfast.

Morning

Today we are off to the market at Haslingden this morning to pick up our meat order from out butcher, then its home for lunch. This afternoon we are taking a child's dress pattern up to Claires. Erin is keen to have a go at making something simple but Claire has struggled to find one. It will get worse. The parent company that owned all the big pattern company has gone into liquidation and with it the only machine left that can print the big pattern sheets on tissue paper. I am glad I have done my pattern drafting with Maxine. Apparently they can’t find a buyer

Claire will be out when we go so we are dropping off the pattern then going to her big local garden centre. I want to see if I can find some veggie plants to replace those that did not germinate here. This evening is the zoom u3 a wine group. Its due to remain most of the day, have a good one everyone.

I started the day by finishing the initial turning of the flywheel and putting the chuck back to the normal internal jaws. Then I turned my attention to the cylinder. This has to be machined and bored before the lids can be machined. I started by the first rough fettling with the grinder, and in the case of the flash in the bore, a punch a chisel and some convincing blows! Then a good measure up and marking for overall length of 2 1/8". Next into the vise on the VM and I started by rough machining both ends so I can check for being square before taking them down to the mark. That was 45 minutes so I stopped and am now chasing my breakfast!

Morning

Another cold wet day forecast. This morning is 9 degrees feeling like 5 . I doubt Bob will be very busy at the park this afternoon. I have some sewing to finish for a Maxine session on Wednesday but I also have some veggie plants to put in that we bought from Claires local garden centre yesterday afternoon. I shall just put on some gardening waterproofs and get on with it. If it would just stop raining I would be able to carry on tidying up our very wild garden. Have a good day all

I feel exactly the same about my dogs Gloria. Doesn't affect holidays because I don't have them but it's great to be able to stay indoors if the weather is bad! I haven't possessed a pair of wellingtons for ages!
Today is a case in point. I shall be in the shed early doors for Occupational Therapy as usual but after that I will not have to go out in the rain! :biggrin2: :good:
