Latest gym session yesterday has made itself known, exercises ramping up a bit and my triceps and hamstrings know it! Step ups, quad lifts and sled pushing yesterday was half the regime, three times ten reps of all, same for the others, bench pressed weights, wood chopper, bike, medicine ball and work on the mat. Got a proper sweat on. :extrawink:

Insurance, maintain mobility, good idea in my book. Don't want to get old and incapable of walking further than a couple of hundred yards.

My one word post was perhaps a bit hasty - what it included was "an admirable aim -but perhaps a bit rigorous to achieve it".

As is the saying, no gain without pain. Tolerable though and once the burn wears off we are both feeling better for it. Trick is to get fit and supple enough so the recovery from each session is shorter. Learnt that with my neuro physio regime learning to walk again. The more you do it the easier it gets. My left leg still dominates the right because of the drop foot I inherited in my right, calves don't match, step ups impacted my right a lot more as I would expect. I still cant balance on my right leg alone as my toes don't work at that side, (failure to rewire fresh neurons). I peak at around 95 bpm in the gym which is about right with a bit to spare for my resting rate of 59bpm. Onward and upward 9am Friday.

I have a question..... Six months ago any criticism of Zionism or the actions of Netenyahu were seen by the Labour Party (and others) as 'Anti-Semitic'.
What is the position now that there is widespread condemnation of these matters?

And answer came there none. .

Beyond my pay grade. I'm not even sure that the initial premise of your question is true, and I don't think that the meaning of "anti semitic" has yet been definitively agreed.

The gravity of the situation makes casual comment a bit offensive. Revenge for 1200 deaths has so far cost tens of thousands of deaths, but when the threat is the complete anihilation of your nation and both sides have God on their side - it was perhaps inevitable.

Good luck.

I think we have a partial answer in the arrests in Parliament Square David.....
As for whether the premise of my question is true.... ask those who have been sanctioned by the Party for their views or found it necessary to resign so as not to be associated with defence of the perpetrators by the Party.

Reading and listening to all the current news about Trump, Putin and Zelensky and knowing we are not party to all the discussions behind the scenes something from the past was bubbling away in my brain just below the surface. This morning I realised I was remembering a 1979 book written by Ted Allbeury and titled `The Alpha List'. It's a grim read but it has relevance to our present world situation and I hope that modern-day politicians have read it. It's definitely worth reading and, if like me, you read it a long time ago, it's worth a second read now.

I've decided to ignore it all. No one knows what is true and what isn't - and how does he get away with what he is doing when the Republicans have sucha slim majority. Does the Congress not matter, Is he effectively a dictator? Some democracy!

I did something quite out of character this morning. I was listening to Oldham Community Radio on the interweb thingy. A chap from Delph was speaking about entertainment in general and seemed to have been involved in lots of local music. He mentioned the Candlelight Club and the Domino Club in Manchester - both places I was familiar with back in the day.

On a whim I rang the station to thank him. (Tel 0161 682 0997).

A lovely lady answered the phone and a message was passed from David in Cambridge, We had a little pleasant chat about age and memories. Seems she was from Newton Heath, and we both agreed that the past wasn't as good as we now remembered it, and that the future wasn't looking too promising at all. Very wise lady.

I see that the Rush Cart parade is still taking place. This years is not on the Tube yet but last year's is identical which is very reassuring. Interesting to see that The Commercial is now labelled as "The Commie". I'll try and forget about Gaza and Ukraine and President Trump, and enjoy -

Our Commercial Inn in Barlick was always truncated to "The Comic". Falling into disrepairs after a few years as The Barlick then The Fountain, must have been shut since well before the pandemic.
