Glad you had a good sleep Sue, sleep is our best asset! We have sun as well but the wind is a bit nippy....
I have just got back from a short walk to the Co-op. I woke from second sleep with a craving for Egg bacon and tomatoes so I have been out and bought the makings!

Hi Sue, Mine is the one on the left. I take great joy in photographing orange minis! Little things for little minds!

I shall be in the shed early doors nursing my latest engine towards completion.
After second sleep I shall be repeating my English Breakfast, I got enough ingredients for two helpings. And then I could very likely sit back and watch the day develop into a wet windy mess!

This morning I am dealing with the most awkward little casting on the engine, the valve rod support and governor stand. First I fettled the casting and got the rough edges off it. Then I squared the faces up as best I could and drilled it to accept the valve rod. Then the search for 5BA bolts instead of the studs the drawings call for. Next a lot of fiddly little adjustments to the valve train and after offering the casting up I drilled it clearance for the 5BA fastenings. I cleaned up the end of the valve rod and re-tapped the clevis 4BA and then put the casting on ready for fastening down. That's enough fiddly work for this morning, now the task is breakfast.

Morning

I think mine is a little more red but not red. It has a funny name but can’t remember it.

I had a busy afternoon yesterday, washing ironing and sewing. We had rain showers so had to dry my towels in the dryer, a rare event but as the family were coming i didn’t want to have damp washing every where. They arrived about 8.30 pm as Ed and Eve had been to the football match at Coventry, they have season tickets.

Our plans this morning are a walk down into Dell to have a substantial breakfast in the tearooms. Then Eve has her A level maths homework to do before they go to the 50 th birthday party around 4. Ed and Julia will probably chat to Bob while Briony and I may investigate my spare fabric as she has chosen sewing as her skill for Duke of Edinburgh bronze award which she will be doing through school this year. When they go it will be bed stripping and more washing. Only two though as J and E sleep on airbeds in the lounge using their sleeping bags. So a busy day with a dry morning forecast and a wet afternoon. Have a good day all

Hi Sue, the photo doesn't do justice to the colour, mine is a little more red than shown.

I shall be in the shed early doors putting the final touches to my valve train..... I can say with certainty that as I have no need to go out, I shall be cowering indoors with the benefit of the central heating because we are promised a wet windy day.

This morning I finished fitting the valve rod support by fastening it to the bed and adjusting the guide for the rod. It is now an ornament on the kitchen table. I shall clear up in the shed tomorrow and start thinking about the next engine. I have the crankshaft and Plinth ready for it..... But the next job this morning is breakfast.

Morning

This morning is dark and damp. I have french at Haslingden, then must get on with my sewing so I can get to a particular point before my next session with Maxine. This evening is yoga at the studio. I managed to get all the washing done and order returned to the spare room after Julia and family left, so I have a little ironing to do, which I will do whilst I am sewing as the ironing board will be up. Thats my day, have a good one

Today, Monday, is living room and dining room - according to my schedule. I always had 2 lists at work, one for scheduled tasks and one for other stuff which I sorted into 4 sections: important / not important and urgent and not urgent. I've just found out this is the Eisenhower matrix. It served my well throughout many year's of work and so I can't see any reason to stop using it.

The important but not urgent was always dictated by someone else, and they may have forgotten about it in 24 hours so it was definitely something to ignore until they came shouting about it.

I do like going "off list" sometimes, but it does keep me on the straight and narrow ensuring that I can laze about for periods of time doing family history, book reading, wine testing and dog fussing without any guilty feelings.

Oh, I ought to mention that I had to do wine testing for work between 2012 and 2015, 08.30 in the morning! There's not a lot of wine I haven't tasted and similarly, there's not a lot of wine I like. I do take my coffee "dry and white".

I'm sat here having a rest after an hour of being domestic.Part of that was grilling sausage for a casserole I fancied.... I had three sausages left over so they are my mid-morning snack. The forecast was correct, it's a lousy day. Susan and Mick are on the road and will be in Kelbrook this afternoon.

I shall go in the shed for a token visit this morning but mainly to tidy up.
Later this morning I expect a visit from Susan and Mick, they arrived at Kelbrook at 16:00 yesterday after a windy journey up country..... Beyond that I have no plans..... apart from the obvious aim of keeping warm and dry!

This morning I cleaned the bench, oiled both surface plates and put a clean tablecloth on the large plate. Then I cleaned Mrs Harrison because that's where the next engine building efforts will start. I intend to make four crankshafts before I start on another engine. That will keep me out of mischief for a while. Right now I am looking for breakfast.

Morning

Its due to be a bit drier day than yesterday, a hint warmer but still as windy. We chuckled yesterday as torrential rain fell nearly all day with howling wind and the local weather forecast referred to light rain. The weather was so bad driving through the rain wind and cloud over Owd Betts that I was 10 minutes late for my french class rather than the usual 10 minutes early. I used my time well in the afternoon clearing the washing and ironing from the weekend and managed to finish Claires top meaning I can now get on with my jacket .

Today there will be no walk into Rochdale as the weather was so bad on Sunday that there is no money to take to the bank from the train in the park. Also who wants to go out walking for pleasure in these conditions. This morning we even heard the central heating come on, a sure sign that summer is over…. i have a feeling our autumn break, in Dorset, next week will be rather damp. Have a good day all and stay warm and dry

I started to sort out the jewellery yesterday morning. It sounds like a wonderful task except that I had inherited a small jewellery mine when mother died. Mostly I sold it unchecked. There was just so much of it that I was overwhelmed, but I managed to gather wedding rings and the like. I also had to sort out earrings into pairs as they were mostly separated and mixed in with other stuff. I always thought that this must mean that they were at least worn my mother rather than just an Ebay purchase.

On an up-note, I found my christening bracelet given to me by Helen Howarth, my godmother, daughter of James Butterfield of the Nelson Weavers Association, see clip below. Mrs Butterfield was my father's childminder and so Helen was like a sister to my dad.

https://www.findmypast.co.uk/image-shar ... be3b531ee5

Today I'm finishing off the task and have a suitable container for the more fiddly items such as necklaces and bracelets.

I'm back up and the first task is slightly more mundane...... Mopping the kitchen vinyl with black disinfectant and flash...... In case your wondering about the stable disinfectant, I love the smell! I have just mopped the kitchen floor.... This might be as far as domesticity carries me today! :biggrin2:
