I know you'll know what I mean Wendy when I say good, I am glad he didn't linger. I remember what it was like when Janet was fighting the inevitable and how I-we all raged against the cruelty of the disease.... I am so sad Col is dead, he was a good man but he had suffered enough and I know it's what he would have wanted. I wish you well as you transition into your new reality..... Big hug Wendy. XXX

Ah Wendy, you have broken the sad news. I got such a shock when I spoke to you this morning . We really were so sorry to hear this and send sincere hugs and condolences. You have both been through tough hard times but his pain is over , now try to concentrate on all those happy memories and not the sad ones. He will always be with you in your heart and your head
If you keep searching you will find it

I'm slow off the mark at the moment and have only just caught up with events. Mrs Tiz and I are sad to hear the news about Col and hope you get through the coming days without any less important matters being put in your way - banks are quite good at throwing grit into the machinery. Thanks Sue, you've just written what I haven't been able to put in words

The husband of my cousin who lives nearby has lost his father and mother in quick succession in the last few months. Father had recently gone into a nursing home, died, then mother went into the same home. They lived in Blackburn and Mark has been making trips up there but fortunately he has two very capable sisters there who dealt with all the local arrangements for funerals etc. His father had worked at the RoF in Chorley and coincidentally there's a lady who lives near us whose husband worked there too. Northerners seem to get everywhere.

Sending our love to you Wendy,
Peter & Janet xx

Thank you all for your very kind comments. I am feeling increasingly relaxed and relieved that Col is finally at peace. It's a long time since his health problems didn't dominate our lives.
Tizer, all our assets are in joint names and I hope there won't be a problem. We made mirror wills last year so that will help.
I'm concentrating on funeral plans at the moment, trying to decide on the right music.
Don't worry about me, I'm looking forward to the future, but I could do without Storm Amy!!

That's so nice of you to offer Gloria, thank you. I'm actually happy to be here, slowly returning to some normality after the last few weeks. I'm also trying to get my head around arranging a funeral....but I'll think about that tomorrow!

Heard on the news this morning, apparently all citizens between the the ages of 65 and 75 are no longer entitled to a free Covid booster vaccination. We must all be assesed as being immune or something! Chemists have been offering both vaccines when booking the seasonal flu jab and patients have been rejected for the latter if they are under 75 years.

One could assume that this is an exercise to thin out the pension claimants by killing a bunch off. It must be counter productive as the costs of hospitalising those who fall properly ill and the strain that this would put on the NHS must exceed the cost of the vaccine to help prevent this outcome.

Madness in my book and I can see why some folk have been a bit angry when rocking up with expectation to be boosted.

And so would I Ian but due to me being in my ninetieth year I hadn't encountered that hurdle.
Friday will be my medical morning..... 09:30, Covid Booster at Everest. 10:00, flu jab and repeat medications at Well. No big problem having two venues, they are on opposite sides of the road.....

We are at Well a bit later in the month. When Sally booked she was offered both so that's what she booked. She booked for both of us. It will be interesting to see what happens as she has a compromised immune system so should still qualify. If the co habitation rule still exists I should get one as well. This was always the case with the flu jab before the pandemic, I started with annual flu jabs a long time before I qualified by age. This was due to Sally's increased risk.

I had a letter yesterday from Leeds, it was from Roisin who is one of my named Clinical Nurse Specialists. Results of my recent MRI, fairly quick this time. Nothing untoward, no changes since my last scan in 2023. So year 7 done, my next and probably final one will be at year 10 in 2028. I can call anytime if I have any repeat or new symptoms and I can arrange an appointment with my neurosurgeon Ian Anderson via his secretary Debra. A copy has been sent to DR Hare at Barlick Surgery.
