Hello all from a very blustery Norfolk, the wind is driving the rain but I'm hopeful! I'm hopeful that it will bring all the leaves down from the sycamore previously mentioned somewhere. I think we have a couple of days of this weather, some gentler than others, fingers crossed!

You sound to be having it rougher than us Julie, I hope it soon improves. We actually have some sun, it's dry and the wind hasn't got serious yet. I have just converted two red onions and two savoy Cabbage into a lovely veggie extension of savoury cabbage. It is quite superb!

I shall be in the shed early doors working on the last leg of my crankshafts. Later I could very easily cook buttered swede as an extender for my veggies. No temptation to walk as we are promised a cold wet day.

I've been looking for this cut for a while..... The last roughing cut on the last leg of the last shaft.... The trial of my patience is almost over. The work is too hot for accurate finishing but that's no problem, I would be leaving that until tomorrow anyway. The pressing matter now is breakfast.

Morning

It was an ok day yesterday, though very chilly around teatime when I walked with Lucy up to the bus stop.we had a good hour and she became very proficient on her machine. Her next session will be 13 November when we are back from France. My trip to the dentist was Ok. I have a nagging problem but the dentist can find no reason for it and suggests the use of a particular type pf toothpaste. He will review the problem when we have our annual check up in about 6 weeks. Yesterday I also developed a cold so today I have a nagging headache thought the sore throat seems to have subsided a little.

Its Friday so its art followed by lunch out. Its cold and damp, have a good day all

Hard luck on another cold Sue! I suspect today will be cold and damp here in Barlick but perversely with a bit more sun than you as seems to have been the case yesterday as well. I'm washing, cooking buttered swede and perhaps putting my pork belly in the slow cooker although now I think about it that will do tomorrow..... Keep warm Love and look after that cold!

Taking the cat to the vet for her check up, early lunch, then a 1 hour gym session followed by tea and biscuits and a natter for gym members, home and then bake the sourdough loaf that has been arguing with itself on a slow rise in the fridge overnight.

I had to deal with a dead mouse in the back living room which the cat caught sometime during the night. She was pretty proud of her conquest and is a first for her.

I think I shall attend to my pork belly and get it in the slow cooker with onions, oranges and spices before I go in the shed for a victory lap as I finish and rough polish the last of the four crankshafts....
I shall take a view for later, looks a bit to windy and cold for me..... In days gone by a sunny day with a cold wind would have been seen as bracing, now it's just bloody cold!!
Later at 05:25. My pork belly is in the slow cooker starting its ultimate journey. I am finishing my coffee before going into the shed...

Here we are, pure masochism. Four shafts for Stuart No. 9 engines, chopped out of solid and needing only finish turning to suit their own engines. That's five shafts in stock, I doubt if I will build another five engines! Now I can give them a polish and put them on the kitchen table for eye candy. In the shed I am looking at a massive clean-up and then unboxing the next set of castings which is sat here in the kitchen waiting for me... But you know what I want now.....

Morning

Sunny day forecast today. It was odd yesterday, really heavy rain and flooded roads in Todmorden and lovely sunshine in Rochdale.

My cold is not too bad but the medication made me sleepy so I had a lie down when we got back from lunch whilst Bob vacuumed. Then we both packed for France.

Bob is in Derby for an engineers meeting all day today. I will change the bedding and do the washing and what little ironing there is this morning. Then clean the bathrooms. Lucy is coming this afternoon as other wise I won’t see her till mid November. She is keen to get on with her patchwork cushion cover. Bob won’t be back until about 7 and then I will do a chicken stir fry for tea. Have a good day all

Oh I remember those little presents when we had cats. The worst was the dead frog that wasn’t dead and leapt round the dining room just as I was going out to work. I had to leave it till I came home as I couldn’t catch it and the cat was having fun chasing it around…..

My silver Panda is home from the Noyna Garage with an agreement that the oil sensor warning light, which has been an issue since we bought it, can be safety ignored. It is computer related and there is no problem at all with the engine. Andrew has done his best to discover the problem and wants me to pop back to the garage after a couple of months so he can check that it's still showing the same fault. What a nice bloke he is. Big thanks to Kev for the recommendation!
I've got a tree surgeon coming this morning to quote for cutting a very overgrown, but beautiful, hedge. The water treatment engineers came last week to service the filter system and the heating engineers are coming on Monday to service the oil boiler. I'm getting a grip!

Good to hear that Andrew got you sorted, I would highly recommend Noyna Garage, they certainly know their stuff. They've certainly saved me unnecessary work on cars in the past and have a solution for most things.

You certainly do seem to be getting a grip. Hope the hedge trimming is not too expensive. Our tree cutting in France made the bank balance scream

You're doing well Wendy! You'll shortly be the go-to person to ask for reliable, honest help with problems outside our own capabilities.... Good to see!

First thing I am going to do is go back to bed. I cocked up and got the clock change the wrong way round!
When I do get in the shed I shall be cleaning up after all that turning.

In the end I ditched the shed in favour of a proper sleep after the disaster of changing the clocks the wrong way. I had five hours of almost continuous sleep. Now, showered and poking through the neck of a clean shirt I feel as though I might be reset! :good:

Morning

I had a really bad nights sleep. After a day feeling almost cold free, I started to bung up about 7 and no amount of medication or steam inhalation would relieve it. Eventually the only way I could breathe was to stand up and walk around. I spent half the night stood at the kitchen worktop reading in dressing gown and blanket draped over my shoulders. I eventually fell asleep at the table about 4.30 new time.

Its a prompt breakfast day today as we are meeting friends in Oxford for Sunday lunch. We shall overnight nearby . The ferry is tomorrow . Have a good day all . Oh yes, Lucy sewed diligently for over three hours and finished her patchwork cushion cover. I was very pleased with her, as she was with it.

I thought my sleep pattern was dodgy at the moment Sue but I'm not as bad as that. Commiserations, I know how miserable it can be.... I hope you see some improvement soon.
Best wishes for the trip to Oxford and the crossing to France tomorrow.....

It is a bit like one of those "spot the difference" or a mad jigsaw out there. In a garden with significant leaf fall, how do I find Buster's yesterday poo? The leaves are all colours including brown and a lot are curled into a turd like shape. Buster is absolutely no use, I keep asking him where it is, to no avail.

Go for a walk in bare feet Julie. You will head straight for it.... :biggrin2:
Unusually I have started the day by changing the duvet covers and it took me over an hour. I think I am going to need help with this in the future.... !
I shall start the clean up in the shed that I should have kicked off yesterday but then I made a mess of my day by getting the clock change wrong....My duvet covers are in the washer on a hot wash and later this morning I shall hang them over the bannisters. The only other thing I can see that I could do is to fry my sweet potato chips.....

This mornings half an hour is ridiculously simple.... Clean the chips off Mrs Harrison and the shed floor. Do the same for the kitchen floor because they have been treading all over the place. Then put the vacuum away and have breakfast.

Morning

Well it was a full blown cold yesterday and thick head this morning, but we had a good day with our friends. We arrived at oxford at 12.30 after a very quick and eventless journey. We had Sunday lunch at their local which is barely 100 yards from their home. I say Oxford, they are in a tiny village not far from the hill with the white horse. Its a temporary home as they are house hunting. They used to live in Charnock Richard but have moved down here to be near both sons and their families who live here. We stayed at the Premier Inn at Marlborough overnight.

We have a day to fill as the ferry is tonight, the forecast is dry with sun and cloud. Have a good day all
