This morning I drilled and tapped the exhaust port in the cylinder and cut the exhaust port in the valve face to depth. It is now ready for fitting the exhaust pipe when I get round to it.... Now I can enjoy my breakfast.

Morning
Water divining is a ´thing’ . We have done it on our field in France, for fun really, but it does work. Bob has used it to find water pipes in floors. There was certainly plenty of water fell on Friday. Hope you can solve the problem Wendy.
Talking of Friday, my son in law did another endurance run this weekend. This beats all the ones he has done before. He did a 48 hour challenge starting at Meriden in the Midlands. The idea was to get as far away as you could from the start in 48 hours . It was supposed to be a ´prison breakout’ . All the competitors could choose their own route. Some did a 24 hour challenge, some 48 hours some ran in pairs chained together. They started at midnight on Friday in the middle of the storm, the Midlands got the worst of it. Ed headed for Brighton, stopping for food on the way, and a short sleep at a Premier Inn. He stopped, exhausted at 4.00 pm yesterday just outside London, at a railway station. At the time there were only 10 left in the 48 hour challenge and he was 8 th. I am so impressed. He caught trains home and was greeted by a proud family at Coventry station at 8.00 pm. He could hardly walk. Meanwhile I followed him online , he was wearing a tracker, whilst I was warm and comfortable doing my jobs Today is French at Haslingden, its 2 degrees here so I will have to watch out for ice crossing Owd Betts. This afternoon I have a routine blood test, and I shall chase up the Drs again. I have my prescription but the problem of the incorrect records has not yet been addressed. Its yoga in the studio this evening. Have a good day all.

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
Sue, I do not intend to criticise your son in law but from your description, 'Escape from Meriden' is not my idea of a fun run....
I doubt if I will see you and Bob doing it chained together.....
I hope all goes well for you today.....

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
I think it was what is described as a challenge run not a fun run . He has done several over the years and trained for a year for this one . This is by far the longest but believe me for a 50 year old he is jolly fit. The other categories were not 48 hours, only the serious runners did that. Some only finished after a couple of hours, others did a typical marathon or half marathon.
At last I have resolved the health issue, the practice manager phoned the chemist who provided the results. They have admitted an error. Believe me it was a mighty big error that has caused me considerable stress. They have apologised and said I can complain if I wish. Not sure I want to be bothered, I want to forget it not recall it

I think I would have the same reaction to the resolution of the matter Sue. Unfortunately these things happen and all I would want would be for them to learn from this one.
I shall be in the shed for an hour early doors. Susan is coming later this morning to finish a deep vacuum that she started on Sunday. I have an idea the carpet moths in the front room are going to get blitzed today!

A good morning. I set up and bored the cylinder. When I did a few check measurements after boring to 1.5" it looks very good indeed. I shall verify that tomorrow. At the moment that was a good hour's work and I deserve my breakfast!

Morning
Its not nice out there, drizzly and cold. I am not sure if we are going to the bank, being a sunny day on Sunday I think the little train took about £90. Worth of train rides. I don’t mind walking in drizzle but not keen if it gets heavy.
Otherwise today I will plod on with my suit jacket which is nearly finished, and the trousers only need the waistband . The biggest problem there will be cutting it out as I have very little fabric left. This is the suiting fabric that Bobs engineer friend gave me about a year ago. This evening its pilates and yoga at the studio, which reminds me I must pay. Have a good day all

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
Season's greetings Sue! We have significant rain here but it could have started as snow, I was in bed having Second Sleep.
Stay inside and keep warm and dry..... That's what I shall be doing.
Oh and cooking attractive savoury cabbage and onions. I learned a long time ago that it was an advantage to be able to cook normally unattractive veggies in such a way that they become culinary treats.....

I love cabbage cooked plain or otherwise. Once cooked chopped up with butter and pepper …..Stanley wrote: ↑18 Nov 2025, 08:43 Season's greetings Sue! We have significant rain here but it could have started as snow, I was in bed having Second Sleep.

The cabbage and onion is lovely..... (I find that a sprinkle of unfiltered apple cyder vinegar always works!)
This morning I shall have a very close inspection of the cylinder I bored yesterday before deciding where to go next.
I have a letter that needs posting but I shall see what it's like underfoot before venturing out!

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
My first job this morning was a careful examination and measurement of the cylinder dimensions. It is very accurate in terms of bore size, parallelism and concentricity. It is possibly one o the best cylinders I have ever machined. That done I cleaned up the chips on the mill, took the boring head off and put it away, gulleted the everyday cutter and touched the cutting edges up. Then I put the steam chest in the vise and started to machine it. That was when I hit an hour in the shed and decided that it was enough. I want my breakfast!

Morning
Its a chilly clear morning, A little precipitation of some sort is forecast this morning but then dry for the rest of the day. Yesterday was sleet, but mainly rain which continued most of the day. We went to town by car as we did need to go to our own bank as well as to take the train money. I spent most of the day sewing and have nearly finished my jacket. I will continue this morning.
This afternoon we are on a guided tour of Rochdale Town Hall followed by a talk from the archeologist who has been involved in the exterior renovations. Its a u3a trip that I have organised following Bob’s and my chat with the archeologist last February. Its proved very popular with 20 signed up for the tour. There are usually only about 7 to 9 people go on the trips. This evening I have zoom pilates. Have a good day all

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
Morning Sue! I have just got back from an extended walk. I went to post a letter but found that the pillar box outside the old Post Office was wrapped up in plastic and out of service.... There was a note that said if you scanned the code below it would tell you where the nearest box was. The people most likely to be using the box are almost by definition, the people least likely tp have a phone in their pocket.
I enquired and the verdict was that the box outside the Post Office in Frank Street was still alive and well so I walked across there.... I posted my letter and went in to enquire about the closed box. I was told that it was to be replaced by a new 'Smart' Pillar box..... But nobody knows when or why they couldn't have given this information in the notice on the box.
I am not happy!

Morning
It appears I didn’t write yesterday again, thats due to the dark mornings sleeping later then rushing to get out of the house on time, in this case for art. So yesterday was art, and in the afternoon a lesson with Lucy. The highlight of the day was resolving my issue with my medical records, well nearly. The pharmacist has apologised for putting someone else's records on my page and has rectified it. However the offending records are still there. I spoke to the practice manager who says they aren’t on their system, but they are on mine. I tried deleting the app at her suggestion and reloading but it has not worked so it was suggested I went into the surgery with my appliances to see the expert there who will try to rectify the situation.
The trip on Wednesday to the Town Hall and talk by the archeologist went really well and was by far the best trip out the history group has had
Today is art this morning, u3a wine social at lunchtime and meal out with Wendy and Keith early evening. Its a beautiful clear morning and sunrise, but -2 degrees. A maximum of 3 is forecast . It will be nice up by the Lake at tea time but of course will go dark early Have a good day all

Today, we are off to Bizzie Lizzies in Skipton for lunch, and a wander around the market. We may even go for a walk along the canal, pity to waste a lovely sunning day.
