I haven't stopped bobbing from one small job to the next. Painting in the yard may get lost, I want a rest!!

I never did get round to doing that painting.... Now I am going to try for a sleep.....

I am dealing with broken sleep again and running early so I won't do any forecasting beyond saying that my next engine related task is painting the castings. Let's see how we get on......

Morning

Despite yesterdays red sky in the morning we had a dry and sometimes sunny day reaching 10 degrees. We walked into town, I left Bob at the optician for his hearing test then I went for a walk round the shops, a rare event, and bought a present for Julia ´s birthday which is just after New Year. I spent some time looking for a nice wine coloured ´dressy’ top to go with my new suit but fund nothing that I liked. We now have a good selection of popular clothes shops,( Next, H&M, River Island’ New Look and M&S) plus a few more boutique type shops which were full of nice things but not what I was looking for .

This morning i shall sort out a small problem we have with Lucy’s skirt. I don’t know what is wrong but suspect it is the pattern, I have already found ne error in the pattern. Lucy is coming tomorrow to try and finish the skirt so I need to résolve this. Being Friday its lunch out with the usual 4. Have a good day all. Its due to be 10 and cloudy with a short shower this morning

Yesterday afternoon was very satisfactory, I got out there and painted my castings....



But then things got even better. The postman turned up with two parcels that were overdue. This was good for one thing immediately, I could give him my annual Xmas box. Then the parcels, one easily dealt with, a 350gm pot of E45 Dermatological Cream bought for £10.99 when in Barlick it is £16 at Well. Next was a Sycamore chopping board I had ordered, My old one was so worn it was going to develop a hole in the middle!
It is slightly too big but I knew that and here you see it on the work surface with the old one. When it comes daylight I shall go into the back yard and saw it down to the line and sand the cut.

Morning

It was an ok day yesterday, I quickly sorted out Lucy’s skirt in the morning, and then generally relaxed, doing a jigsaw that we started on Friday. Its a complicated one and will keep us occupied till Christmas. We had a good lunch with the usual 4, Wendy and Keith arriving a bit late as they were having new blinds fitted in the lounge.

This morning the two of us will clean, Bob vacuuming whilst I do the wet cleaning and dusting.. i shall also do some towel washing. Its due to be dry, if there is a little breeze I may get them dried outside. This afternoon Lucy is coming to finish her skirt. A dry cool day is forecast, have a good day all

We have a strange forecast today Sue. The forecast says bright, sunny and dry but we have a yellow warning of rain. No doubt all will become clear later.



I finished the chopping board and oiled it and it is now in place on the work top. A good upgrade to the facilities!
With a bit of luck we'll have a pleasant day. I hope you can have the same Sue....

I am still running on the early timing that has followed my problems with sleep patterns. Nevertheless I hope to be back on the early morning hour in the shed this morning. I shall certainly be aiming for that. Otherwise it looks like a windy wet day and I suspect I shall be cowering in the kitchen!

First I cleaned up the evidence of wood bothering in the shed, I hate sawdust! Then I gathered my castings together, found the oiled plinth that Col made for me and set about mounting the base and the bed on to it. A good half hour and another small but accurate step towards having another engine on the books! Now for breakfast and second sleep, early but still welcome!

Morning

Its really dark this morning, and sadly due to rain all day. Today is Santa Special at the park. I hope Bob doesn’t get too wet. He will be out straight after breakfast and I probably won’t see him much before 5.30 as they have to set up this morning and clear up this evening.

I have few plans apart from the ironing. I shall write up a few notes in Lucys sewing log that I am doing for her as her skirt showed up a few fitting problems so I need to make note of them and the remedy we made. She is delighted with the finished skirt which has few errors on it. Afterwards I shall make myself comfortable and listen to a podcast in french whilst I unpick the second sleeve of my jacket. Have a good day all

I hope your weather is better than ours Sue. We have a nasty, cold, wet windy day and if Bob has the same he'll be glad to get home this afternoon.....

I have had a better sleep and this morning I intend to get my chicken in to roast before going in the shed and spending an hour doing useful things to castings. Not even thinking about a walk because we have a lousy forecast!

When I built up the bed yesterday I noticed that I hadn't got enough clearance between the horns to allow a decent thickness for the cheeks of the bottom brasses so this morning I rectified that. I stripped the bed off the base and cut the cheeks slightly wider. Then I milled the bed of the crosshead ready for fitting the guides. A good half hour and another small step forward. Now for breakfast and then put the chicken in the oven.

I have had second sleep and I'm ready now to deal with my chicken sometime after 08:00.

It was very wet and despite being 9 degrees it was also very cold yesterday, but Bob said they still gave 163 rides on the Santa special. Today is a similar forecast of 100 % chance of quite heavy rain. I shall be at Haslingden for French conversation this morning, the last one until January .

My question about starting a forum was resolved thank you Kev,, as was the question I asked about setting up our Smart TV to display my compter screen. Wendy found one method, which Gloria used then I found my iphone was already set up for it with an appropriate icon to use. In researching this I found my ipad was too. I spent a quiet hour or so yesterday afternoon discovering all sorts of things that both the iphone and the ipad do, independently and together. I am more than pleased with my buy, although I still have two apps to transfer.

So today, French then yoga this evening, I just hope my sinus headache behaves itself. Have a good day all

Glad your phone problems are sorted Sue. Mine might be just beginning. I checked this morning and it only had 24% charge. That's never happened before, I shall have to monitor it.....
I've just finished dealing with the chicken. The roasting tin is cleaned and put away. I can deal with the rest of the day now!

I'm a bit late, but I shall be writing and posting the Christmas Cards today. Merry Christmas to you all. Yesterday I cooked most of the vegetables for christmas dinner and froze them ready for the big defrost for Christmas day. I have an unexpected one coming over for dinner on the 25th so I've not got all my ducks in a row yet, but I'm bl**dy close!

What a good idea to cook veggies and freeze them to lessen the load on Xmas Day! Well done Julie, I've never thought of that but it will work.
Today I have another early day due to my disrupted sleep patterns but all is well and I am aiming for an Hour's shed before breakfast. We are promised a dry day so I shall be trotting over to the Town Square later this morning for serious veggie shopping....

This morning I started the process of making and fitting the crosshead guides. This involved some delicate high risk milling of the stock provided. 45 minutes of careful work but I have two pieces of metal the right size and shape to work with tomorrow. Now for breakfast.

My goodness its dark out there but it may have stopped raining after what was a very wet day yesterday,

Today we have a dental appointment at 10.00 and Bob will be at the park this afternoon . I have pilates and Yoga at the studio this evening with the lovely Paula who really works you hard. Taira is still away on her 50 th birthday holiday weekend. During the day I will potter, a bit of french, a bit of jigsaw and a bit of sewing. Its due to be cooler and drier. Have a good day all
