Morning Sue.... Yes, it's darker at both ends of the day isn't it. It's calm and dry with us and promises to be a better day. However, tomorrow is wall to wall rain here and possibly with you as well. I hope you have a good day.....
I am back home after doing my veggie shopping at the Co-op, it's nearer than Town Square. I shall have to go into town later to post a letter,my nearest box is still the Post Office.

I assume you mean the one outside the old Post Office Buildings just the other side of the pelican crossing?

No Ian, that one is not in use, said to be waiting an upgrade but nobody knows when. (I have asked) I meant what I said, the one outside the post office.
I shall do my hour in the shed this morning and then after second sleep my course is clear, veggie cooking. I got my veggies yesterday and did a separate walk to post my letter.
We are forecast a day of heavy rain so I shan't feel deprived of my walk by cooking!

I filed and polished the two crosshead guides and then measured and marked them for the 5BA clearance holes for the bolts that will fasten them to the crosshead slide on the bed. Then I found the six bolts I shall need. Tomorrow I have a clear rite into marking drilling and tapping the be for the guides. We have another small but accurate move towards a finished engine. Right now the task is breakfast.

Morning

There is a scarlet sky brewing under the dawn grey, normally a sign of rain which is forecast all day. However last week it was followed by a beautiful sunny day!

This morning Bob and I are at the hairdressers, then I will collect my newly sharpened scissors from the firm I took them to, £28 for 4 pairs is not bad. Two of those pairs were over £28 new, one pair, the same make was free with a sewing machine I bought and worth the same. This afternoon our hairdresser friend Kath is coming round for a mince pie, a cuppa and a natter. We haven’t seen her for a few weeks. This evening I have zoom pilates, if I get that far before falling asleep. I woke at 3.37 am and didn’t go back to sleep till after 6 . Have a good day all

Morning Sue, time spent servicing tools is never wasted. Too many forget that it's needed.
I had a better night last night, seven hours sleep, more like normal! I think you're right about the rain, it is with us and the wind is rising. Whatever you're doing keep warm and dry. .... :good:

I am deep in veggie cooking, four pans on the hob so I can take a breather. I have the Messiah on full blast from the Sydney Opera House. Not a classic performance but perfectly adequate for background to my cooking.

All cooking done. I am waiting now for the hob to cool and then I can clean it. Always a nice point in the week, four and a half pans of fresh healthy veggies. I shall survive over Xmas!

A quieter day today. I shall have my hour of Occupational Therapy in the shed, drilling and tapping six holes in the right place..... The only task I see after that is to order two deliveries of meat in one to get me into 2026!

I think I'm getting the hang of this game..... I have just had a lovely hour in the shed. I knew exactly what the goal was and how to get there. I put witness marks on the guides and the bed to identify the two sides. Then I mounted the bed under the pillar drill and drilled and tapped for the 5BA bolts which hold the guides on to the crosshead slide. Quiet accurate work using the guides as templates and the result is a bed complete with crosshead guides! Another small but accurate step forward. Now for breakfast.

Morning

Its a clear dark morning. This morning we shall go to the plant man who used to be on Bacup market but now has a permanent site in one of the public gardens there. It seems an odd time of year to visit but our friend Kath gave us a £25 voucher to shop there. She had one it in a raffle and it has to be redeemed by the 31 st of December. The plant man closes down then until late February. This afternoon Lucy is coming and we are going to start working through the instruction book for her machine including putting in a zip which she will need for next skirt she is going to make in the New Year.

Its due to be a dry morning and a wet afternoon. Have a good day all

I don't talk about it a lot Sue, it was not a happy time..... But a very instructive interlude. :biggrin2:
This morning I shall be in the shed as usual doing interesting things and keeping my mind and fingers active. After second sleep I have one social engagement which requires a walk into town, the annual eye test. Not anticipating any problems.

The next job is to make the crosshead. This is because at this stage we have unrestricted access to the slide for measuring and fitting. The first stage was to mill the generous piece of stock supplied down to square and the correct overall dimensions. Another small step forward and a good 45 minutes. Now for breakfast.

Morning

Its a typical Friday today with differences. This morning I shall make up the spare bed and clean the room as my sister is coming over tomorrow and staying till Sunday. This involves clearing all the Christmas stuff off the bed first , and clearing the washing and ironing away. It can go in my sewing room temporarily now Lucy has been. Lunch time it is the u3a wine tasting group monthly social with a bit of a festive twist. Then its a late lunch at Riva, the Italian restaurant at the Lake. Bob is then out this evening at the model engineers meeting, and I shall pop out and post the local Christmas cards. 8 degrees and dry forecast. Have a good day all

I have been to the opticians and all is well, no changes and no problems. I called in at the Co-op for milk and some odd shelf fillers.

The pavement is being replaced early next year, word on the street is the post box is being replaced by a 'smart' postbox

Royal Mail is rolling out new, solar-powered "digital postboxes" featuring a barcode scanner and a larger drawer for posting small parcels (up to shoebox size) 24/7, a major redesign to compete with online drop-off points. To use, you scan your pre-paid label's QR code with the app, the slot opens, and you drop in your item; it's part of a push to modernize for e-commerce

Been to the gym, home, changed and I have got the rice pudding in the slow cooker for afters tonight. Waiting for Sally to come home from "Ladies who Lunch" and then I will run her on to Burnley hospital for another appointment for a different issue. 4pm so Burnley and approaches will be rammed, traffic wise.

Ian, best of luck to Sally I hope Burnley was OK.
I shall be in the shed doing useful things to my engine. I shall have to make a quick Co-op run as I have a surprise chicken to roast and need the bits to go with it. All part of the run up to Xmas!

There has been a change in the programme. I was on the verge of going in the shed when I was hit by a slump in energy levels.... I didn't question it, just accepted that what I needed was breakfast and second sleep. So I am declining the shed and having my breakfast. This is not the end of the world!.
