Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
They look good Kev! I'm sure I could manage a bit of pastry but operate a total ban as long experience teaches me that if I allow myself one treat otheres follow and before I know what's happening I am in trouble again!
I had chicken and veggies four times, I am finding I need a second breakfast with these upset hours. I cooked savoury cabbage and onion to extend my veggies.

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
I only cooked a small batch, the rest are in the freezer. A longer cooking time and they can be cooked direct from frozen.
Today I will be making veg soup. We dropped into Aldi yesterday and they are selling bags of carrots, parsnips, 2kg of potatoes and individual swedes all at 5p each. A carb loaded soup unfortunately but a bit more walking and we soon burn it off
My neighbour is going to get some for her horse

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
I think I heard a radio report yesterday about carrots being sold as a loss leader....
I had chicken and veggies X three and enjoyed them. I am so lucky in that I actually like the taste and texture of veggies.....

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
Friends round for cocktails and nibbles at teatime today. I have pigs in blankets and a batch of sausage rolls for hot food, a charcuterie plate, cheese and crackers and a selection of bottles for mixing cocktails.

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
I might treat myself to a bottle of cider for Xmas. I'm just about teetotal now, I don't know how it happened just crept up on me..... Probably as well with my favourite single malt selling at almost £50 a bottle!
Yesterday I had chicken and veggies X three and when I had a mid morning craving I silenced it with a five minute pick at my chicken carcass!

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
Chicken and veggies X three. I cooked my pork belly with onions and oranges and put the gravy in the fridge overnight to separate the fat. I shall do that this morning and that's the end of food related items for Xmas!

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
Been playing with my new air fryer, the paper liners were delivered today so that'll make cleaning a lot easier. Lunch today is baked potato (10 minutes in the microwave and 10 minutes in the air fryer) with tuna mayonnaise and cheese as a topping.
The new one will be used a lot more now as it's a lot bigger than the one it replaced. It has two independent drawers, a 5 litre and a 3 litre, with separate temperature and timing settings with a 'synchronise' button so they both finish at the same time

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
Pork and veggies X three. The orange flavour is particularly strong in this batch.... I'm enjoying it, slightly bitter which goes well with the meat.

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
Xmas eating was exactly what it would have been on a normal day. Pork and veggies X three and I allowed myself a mid-morning treat of spicy mackerel fillets on oatcakes.....

Still on three hot meals a day. I grilled some pork and black pudding sausages for a mid morning treat. Good move, very tasty!

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
I am working on the last of the Xmas veggie cooking. I am looking at having to do a cook again and it's going to fall on New Year's Day unless I do something imaginative.

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
I am getting the last batch of cooking into a corner. I made two helpings of fish, chips and peas to give me a bit more time before the new cooking.

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
Kev, have you tried 'Rubies in the Rubble' ketchup yet? It's in the Co-op and is better than Heinz.
I had the last of the old batch of cooking X three while I roasted my chicken and then cooked my veggies. That's the last batch of 2025!

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
I had chicken and new batch veggies. Always a treat after the old batch. There were no leeks when I shopped so this weeks mix is different, more celery than normal.... (Did you know that celery is classed as a herb?)
