The Wolf Moon is full this morning David and directly overhead.
Yesterday stayed dry and sunny at times but always cold. This morning is even colder, clear sky, Full moon and very cold. The glass is up a bit on 1004.5C. The forecast is for a clear sunny and very cold day. The mainly WNW wind is moderate and gusts to 30mph. We can expect a high of 1C and a low tonight of -5C with a wind chill of up to -7C this morning. The perceived temperature at the moment is -9C so wrap up warm! The outlook is for cold clear weather until Thursday when heavy overcast warms us up a bit to the dizzy heights of 4C....
(Margaret tells me it is 35C in Perth....)

I'm just back from a short walk to the Co-op and back. That wind hurts your face when you are walking into it, it's bitter cold. As usual I found a couple of shelf-fillers at the Co-op. Nice to be back in the warm!

I agree Kev, we may be lucky!
Yesterday stayed bright and cold right up to nightfall and we had clear skies and a brilliant moon all night. This morning we have a breeze, clear sky and biting cold, the roofs opposite me are white. The glass is up on 1010mb and the forecast is for a clear cold day with lots of unbroken sun and no mention of snow. The mainly WNW wind will be moderate all day gusting to 25mph. We can expect a high of 1C and a low tonight of -7C with a constant -5C wind chill all day. The result will be -9C for most of the day. The outlook is for another three days like today and then Thursday and Friday warmer but heavily overcast but dry.
Later at 03:20. Margaret reports from Perth that they are having 33C today....... :biggrin2:

No sign of any snow here, bright sky, no wind, very cold, we can stand this.
I’m wondering if this bright, watery sun could be the cause of the migraines I’ve had for the last few days.

Gloria have you ever investigated the ear piercing treatment for migraine. Susan didn't believe it could work but she was persuaded by a friend to try it and it worked like a charm, changed her life.
It's bright here and very cold but no signs of snow. I agree with you Gloria, this is supportable.... :good:

Yesterday afternoon was bright and cold. During the night it clouded over and we had a light fall of snow which of course settled as we had a hard frost. This morning we have a moderate westerly breeze, a 3" covering of snow and a hard frost. The glass has fallen to 1007mb. The moderate westerly breeze settles eventually in the NW. We can expect a high of 1C and a low of -7C tonight. We shall have a wind chill of -4C all day and until 09:00 this morning we have to endure -10 after applying the wind chill. It will be warmer tomorrow and that is the pattern the week settles down to with more cloud and some rain or snow.

The snow was still quite 'powdery' here, it made it relatively easy to clear the yard and the car. I've thrown a bit of rock salt on the steps and covered the car with the protective sheet I bought a couple of years ago (it covers the roof and windows). I have a 6am start to the office on Wednesday but will be reviewing the situation tomorrow evening.

Yesterday was bright, dry and extremely cold all day. Then we had a clear cold night and this morning it's still clear and very cold, with the wind chill it is currently -8C. The glass is up on 1014mb and the forecast is for a heavily overcast day with a yellow warning of snow and ice all day. The mainly SW wind is moderate and we can expect a high of 4C and a low of 0C tonight with a constant wind chill of -4C all day. The outlook is for very similar weather with more snow on Thursday and Friday.

We’ve had nothing overnight and nothing has disappeared. This morning we have quite heavy cloud, looking full of snow. The birds are out on the feeders in a frenzy, they must know something we don’t.

Don’t put yourself at risk Stanley, hospitals are not places you want to be in. If you need something desperately, ask in here, if no one can help you locally, we will come over. Just ask.

Thursday and Friday's weather is Storm Goretti, not sure how much impact it'll have here. The whole country is covered by a yellow warning for ice until 10:00 tomorrow morning.

Strange name for a British storm
There are many to whom the name will immediately bring to mind Saint Maria Goretti. I wonder how it was chosen.

Lovely caring post Gloria. I think I knew that it was going to be OK if risky after the continued low temperatures. As Kev said the day before, where the snow was undisturbed it was still powdery.
That's not true now, we have had a short thaw and when it re-freezes it will be very slippy.
We haven't seen any of the promised snow and rain. Just a very brief partial thaw. If there is precipitation now it will most likely be rain.
I agree David, I looked at the Met Office warning, see LINK here. and what they say about the name is Meteo France has named the low Storm Goretti, as the worst of the wind impacts are expected to be felt across northern France.
The rest of the Met office warning is for dire weather over Thursday and Friday.... We shall see, so far they seem to be crying wolf......

Yesterday the afternoon descended into light rain and a slow thaw. This morning we had a breeze and it was still raining gently. The glass has fallen like a stone to 996mb, no doubt storm Goretti moving in. The forecast for today is for a bright day with sunny intervals but a wind strong enough for the wind chill to trigger a yellow warning for ice all day. The mainly WNW wind will be brisk and gusts to almost 35mph. We can expect a high of 3C and a low tonight of -1C. The wind chill is -5C for most of the day and occasionally reached -6C This means a perceived temperature that will reach -5C at times. The outlook is for windy overcast weather with highs that match seasonal expectations.
