Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
I have been surprised as I have got older how erratic my sense of smell has become. Some smells I pick up easily, others I blank out. Very strange......

Today I will be relaxing after two late nights Monday at the club quiz and last night at a friends van. Hopefully sitting out and reading a good book. Eileen

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
I did find myself balanced a few feet off the ground on a couple of scaffolding planks, being buffeted by the wind and waiting to take the weight of a hefty five foot square window as Col bashed it out. Fear of the unknown & wobbly knees forced me into a refusal...much to his disgust, though he doesn't expect quite as much from me now I'm a OAP. I got to do the bashing instead. We got two windows done, despite getting freezing cold and drenched a couple of times. One more on the north facing wall to do, we will probably do that on Friday...I understand the wind will have turned to a northerly by then!
And then it rained.....

And then it rained.....
Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
But gosh....what a beautiful VIEW!
We took out a big window in our lounge room ( which overlooks our back garden) and replaced it with double glass doors to provide access to a wisteria covered verandah we had erected. Big job, but glad we did. I remember the unusual sensation of the outside suddenly being part of the room. If it wasn't for insects and mozzies, it would be a great way to live. Well maybe not where you live....

I know exactly what you mean Maz, I feel that way too. It's quite a disappointment when the glass goes in and the outside world is cut off again.

Wendy,
What a beautiful view, it almost makes me homesick.
I bet it looks just as great when it is covered in snow.

It is wonderful Graham, though my little camera doesn't do it justice... it's much better in real life. I've just got back from a walk down to Kelbrook and back up the other side of the clough, it was muddy & wet but it's still beautiful countryside to walk in. I saw a little owl flying out of my neighbour's barn, a roe deer strolling up the driveway down at Harden Clough and a buzzard over Kelbrook Moor. I am very lucky to live here, even with a wet wall and leaky windows.

Saturday could be a better day Wendy before the wind and rain comes in on Sunday.
I shall have a nice day today. My mate Daniel visits for the day and we will catch up and talk about the new book. He will depart loaded with neg files.....

Getting sorted with a couple of reports and starting to prepare a training session this morning. Felt like a busy week though only worked 3 full days as I took Charlotte back to Uni yesterday and fell asleep in the chair after I'd had my dinner!! Nolic

Toddling up to Barlick later for a visit 'till Sunday. Off to catch the Wharfedale v Esher rugby tomorrow afternoon up at Threshfield. Used to live just outside Esher, and popped to see them now and again (tho' was a Harlequins member so saw them most of the time). After the match we're off en famile to The Fountaine at Linton for dinner.

Minting your own coins again?
Just general housework today and two pairs of trousers had to be taken up for Febby.
Woke with a sore back this morning so have been going half pace, but seem to have got everything done.
Hopefully this leaves tomorrow free for ancestry...

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
Certainly was a perfect day for the rugby at Threshfield and a win for Wharfedale. Bumped into a couple of old school friends who I hadn't seen for best part of 30 years. That fellow John Inverdale was there - he is president of Esher. He was in The Fountaine later on. It's not the first time he's come to Threshfield - in one of his newspaper columns he waxed lyrical about the set up there and it being one of the most beautifully situated sports grounds in the country. He was subject to gentle ribbing by the PA man - noted Dales raconteur Ian Douglass, ex-Ermysted's geography teacher and the chap that used to entertain folk at Broughton Game fair. I think some of the crowd turn up just to hear his unique and frankly hilarious take on events.

Today I have tried to keep warm after a week in sunny Venice. I have been to French, the first meeting after the summer and done the post holiday washing.

Back is not too bad now, Stanley.
I tend to get in weird positions as I sleep, because I've had an ankle problem for years and it can't take the weight of bedclothes. I actually sleep with a splint on each night, which helps. ( avoiding an operation at all costs). But getting comfy with the mangy ankle often means my spinal alignment is not good. Summer will be up and running soon and I won't have a problem for the next six months as we sleep without bedclothes.
Popping over to see Cazza later...

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
If someone invented a simple arch in the bottom of the bedclothes that took the weight off your toes they would make a fortune.

Seeing how bent my car is since my youngest lad planted it into a wall yesterday! He's OK which is the main thing, he had it relayed back to the garage in Barlick, I think we might need a new one!
