I have just heard the news and you're right David, it hit me hard. She really was something special. I suppose 91 is a good age but you are never really ready to go! She gave a lot of people pleasure and at least one young man an experience that he has never forgotten.

Sir Mark Tully (Tully Sahib) has died aged 90.

Quite a unique long time foreign correspondent for the BBC.

And that's not overstating the story of his life. I have been listening to him for years and what always impressed me is that he was a friend of India.....

John Virgo the snooker champion and commentator has died in Spain aged 79.

It's only a few days since we heard his insightful catchphrase live in air "where's the cue ball going?"

"His last commentary for the BBC came 17 days ago when Kyren Wilson beat John Higgins in the Masters final".

I knew about John Virgo but not Tzu Minh.... 79 years for Virgo isn't a big age nowadays..... (You get to doing comparisons eventually.... :extrawink: )

My brain operates in too logical a way to easily catch these nuances..... I actually start from the position where I believe what is being written!

Neil Sedaka has died, aged 86. I thought he would be older. Writer of many of the songs from my early teens.

Gary Leeds has died. Drummer with the Walker Brothers and he was the last one alive. Pictures of them were plastered over my bedroom walls in the mid 60s. I adored Scott Engel and touched his foot at a concert in Harrogate early in their career. 🥰

Obit for a building -

Embassy Club to be demolished

Surely the end of an era. I didn't realise it was still trading until recently. I only visited it once - in Rochdale Road Harpurhey, and that was a long time ago. Immortalised by the "Wheeltappers and Shunters ITV programme -which is showing its age now, but very excitng in its day. Mildly ironic that the site will now house a Health Centre.
