Yes I am Cathy, I can manage without but it's my insurance policy, I can't trust my balance! I think I am technically what is known as a 'fall risk'!
Sue, sorry to hear you have another cold. They seem to be dogging you! Do you take multivitamins? I used to think that I didn't need them because I had such a good diet but then realised that a combination of less vitamins in food and changes in my metabolism meant a change was perhaps needed so now I have Cod Liver Oil, a multivitamin and a K2/D3 vitamin tablet. I don't know if I actually need therm, all I can say is that I seem to be doing very well off them!
(I'd recommend the book "The Vitamin Murders: Who Killed Healthy Eating in Britain?" by James Fergusson, published in 2007.)

Later..... I have just finished cutting up my pork belly and putting it and the other ingredients (Oranges, onions spices and apple cider vinegar) into the slow cooker and then felt hungry. So I decided to scrub the shed and have breakfast instead.....The empire will not tremble on its foundations...

Morning

Yes Stanley I do take multivitamins and Codliver oil, but these will only help your immune system fight a cold not stop you getting one . I don’t know where I caught this one. Lucy had a cold two weeks ago but thats too long ago. It could have been at pilates, there are a lot of Primary school teachers in the group . They pick up colds frequently from the youngsters in their classes, a hazard of the job 🤣 Anyway this seems like a classic two day streamer as I slept well, and do feel a bit better today though very tired.

We plan to go out to finish our Pendle Mystery book that we started in February. This evening we are taking Claire, Adam and Erin for a curry .

Have a good day all

I decided I wanted some baby potatoes to extend my pork and while I was in the Co0op saw some 'beef strips' reduced on sell by date to £1.80 so I got them and have built a casserole of beef, onions, potatoes and peas. I shall compare the cost to ready meals at £4 a throw.....

I finished the slow cooking of the casserole.... I ended up with two substantial helpings with ingredients my mother would have recognised for much less than the price of one ready meal......

The valve face and the two cylinder ends cut to size and checked for parallel and square. Then the finish refined by filing. 45 minutes of honest endeavour. I deserve my breakfast.

Morning

Just walked into Rochdale to bring Sundays takings for the train to the bank. It was a bumper day

Yesterday was lovely. We finished our Pendle Mystery but Barley was heaving. The car park was full as were all roads leading in. All the way to Rough Lee

My cold was fine yesterday but not so good today.I wonder if it is a hayfever mix . I am taking a week off exercising

19 degrees and sunny forecast . I think a bit of light gardening is called for . Have a good day all

Shed first thing for an hour of OT. A walk later and a call in at the Co-op for milk. It looks like a very acceptable day.

This morning I set the VM up for cutting the exhaust port in the valve face. I cut the slot to depth and then drilled and tapped it 1/4" 32tpi ready for the exhaust pipe. Then started readying the VM to go back to the normal cutter but that needs sharpening before it is replaced. That can wait until tomorrow. That was 45 minutes of careful progress and no errors. Now for breakfast.

Morning

I wrote earlier but lost it.

After our walk yesterday, i did a bit of gardening in the afternoon, planted a couple of things and removed a hibiscus shrub that I am giving to Wendy and Keith.

This morning I have an appointment at a dermatology clinic to look at a blemish on my leg that I have had for many many many years but the GP thinks a specialist should see it. ( two other GPs have looked at in the past and were not concerned) If I have a biopsy it means I can’t swim this afternoon, otherwise a bit of hoeing in the garden would be productive.

Enjoy the beautiful weather today

First job this morning was to sharpen the milling cutter and replace it in the VM. Then I started work on the steam chest Concentrated on the gland end and refined the finish using the mill and then by hand in the vise. That used up 45 minutes and so now I am chasing breakfast.

Thanks for asking Wendy. It could be stitched I suppose but it will heal without. I have bandaged it up in its own blood and as long as it doesn't start throbbing I shall leave it alone for a` few days. It was a clean cut in a clean environment and bleeding freely so I think it will be OK. :good:

I have some steristrips (paper stitches) if you do decide you need something to hold it together. They are out of date but I used them on myself after a knife incident without issue.

Afternoon.

Those cut edges need drawing together and the wound needs to be clean.

Busy morning , we wanted to get to Burnley cemetery early before it started raining. As per the last couple of visits we bought flowers at Morrisons in Bacup but this week the choice was almost non existent, a very bad display of left overs after Easter. As before we had to make an appointment to be let in the gated off area of the old part of the cemetery. Then it was back here for an early lunch before I went swimming. Sadly I could not swim as it was a special activity session. Back to normal next week . I have spent the afternoon doing some Widdup research in preparation for a talk I will be doing in October at the Tod u3a Local History group .

Have a good afternoon all
