Once more I shall keep out of the shed. My finger is doing well and I am not going to risk undoing the good work of the last 48 hours..... The promised rain should cease mid-morning and so there is the chance of a walk.

Morning

Its very wet and. Windy, dry later but its due to return. Bob is in Derby all day for a Model Engineers meeting. I have the morning to myself when I shall sort out my own sewing ready for a session with Maxine on Tuesday morning. Lucy is coming this afternoon as I am busy on a lot of Thursdays until mid June. However she finishes school for exams in a couple of weeks so she may be able to fit in other days between exams and revision.

Have a good day all

Bob's voluntary work for Model Engineers is very onerous..... (and expensive!)
We're wet and windy here as well Sue. not a very cheerful Saturday.

Bob is the treasurer for the local club and the Northern association of clubs. He is also a boiler tester and runs the database of registered tested boilers. Yes it takes up a lot of his time but at least he gets expenses. When he worked he worked away from home during the week for over 15 years, weekends were taken up with household necessities and looking after elderly / ill parents. We both had no time for hobbies. Bob also had no friends locally so he took up Model Engineering when he retired. He joined the Rochdale club and soon had numerous friends with common interests and being at the young end
( we both retired at 55) was quickly persuaded to ‘help’ out at the local and National level. On a really nice sunny day the commitment is a bit of a shame from my point of view but I have the garden and my sewing and we do have numerous holidays and small breaks away through the year. It makes you appreciate how much people give up to provide all these swimming lessons, train rides, football games etc as volunteers for activities for children ( and indeed adults)

Today hopefully will not be quite as showery as yesterday. I got soaked again when I walked with Lucy up to the bus. Bob got back from Derby about 6 so I had plenty of time after Lucy left to make a bolognese sauce, ready to cook the spaghetti when he came in.
So today will be a usual Sunday, a bit of ironing and sewing for me and Bob at the park. Have a good day all .

I've been out for my short walk and Co-op shopping. I have the heavy end of the veggies and the necessary accompaniments for my chicken so all is well. We have warm sunshine but a very cold wind!

Don't guilt yourself Sue.... We all deserve occasional days off. I shall be taking another day off from the shed just as a precaution against anything unfortunate that undermines progress on my finger. See medical matters....
I shall be doing the last of my veggie shopping this morning. I think the actual cooking will be tomorrow.....I shall take a view later.

Morning

This morning I shall have a two hour session with Maxine, as we postponed last week due to my cold ( or was it/is it hay fever, no one else caught it and my nasal symptoms respond to hayfever medication. It is the time of year for my hayfever) . This afternoon we have a covid vaccination and this evening pilates and yoga.

Its sunny at the moment but a bit of rais forecast this afternoon. Have a good day all

Morning

We were up at 5.45 am and on the road by 6.30. Bob has an appointment at Christies at 8.30am for the last of his 2 year checks. We were here by 7.30 and should be home by lunchtime. I have bought sandwiches ( and a coffee) at the M&S cafe so we can have an early lunch here if we need it then I should be able to go swimming this afternoon. Otherwise we have to pack for a short trip to France, driving down to the ferry tomorrow after art, ferry on Friday night.

Its a damp day forecast today. Have a good day all

Bob has just been called in at 8.10 am

All good except for the nearly 4 hour wait with no one telling me what was happening. Bob was the first on the list we were told. It doesn’t do a lot for your stress levels when a nurse tells another patient that there is a delay because of a problem with the first patient….which turned out not to be Bob at all! It was after 11 before he was seen

That must have been a shocking thing to hear Sue! Thank God it all turned out OK.
This morning is return to the shed day! Not sure what I'll be doing, I shall take a view once I get in there.
Later I shall be ordering my meat, cooking some extender veggies, most likely savoury cabbage and onion, and having a walk tp the Co-op.....

Sorry for the hiatus.... I tried to chop my finger off so I have been occupied gluing everything back together. I'm happy to say it has healed well so I am back on duty. This morning I spent 45 minutes refining the finish on all faces of the steam chest. The casting has some small inclusions which mar the finish but will not make any difference to the functioning when fitted. I want my breakfast now.....

Morning

Yes Stanley it was a very stressful and distressing morning, not helped by a very early start, leaving me with rather a nasty headache that would not clear. The afternoon was quieter but I chose not to swim even though we were back in plenty of time. We did our packing for our week away and I did decide to zoom pilates at 6.45 pm.

This morning is art at Haslingden then its a quick lunch before we drive to Oxford where we will stay overnight. The ferry is tomorrow night and we will be back next weekend. On a positive note we had a viewing on the house yesterday which apparently went very well, although I don’t want to get my hopes up too much.

Its going to be a cloudy day, about 13 degrees, rain this evening. Have a good day all

PS Glad the finger is ok Stanley
