Engineers vice for a milling machine?

You're in the right area Gloria but that's not what it is. You've seen it before. The only clue I can think of is that it is totally obsolete now having been replaced by the milling machine.....

Don’t know I’m stumped.

It's difficult Gloria because modern machinists will never have seen one. It's a tool holder that can be bolted onto the faceplate of a lathe. It cuts a flat surface on a workpiece fastened to the saddle of the lathe and a star wheel catches on a small detent fitted to the lathe and automatically traverses the tool.
This was a good way of getting a flat surface on a workpiece in the days before milling machines.....
Now we need another object....

It's for removing a stud from a casting Wendy. The knurled part is on an eccentric cam and grips the threaded stud.
