Re: ENERGY MATTERS
Thats about £180 a month or £6 a day. For a mid terrace that still seems a lot - Even an insulated roof space will only slow heat escaping not cease it. One wonders what the minimum level of Kwh in to maintain say 22deg when outside is average below 6deg for a month actually is from any form of construction = stone is not inheriently that worse than 9in brickwork, but cavity /filled cavity should be slightly better. Maybe the old days of wearing the large woollen great coat knitted hat and gloves permantently indoors is the solution. Switching to candlelight brings fires risk dangers.

Re: ENERGY MATTERS
Yesterday I read my 'smart meters' for British Gas. Today I have my energy bill for last month, £202.

Re: ENERGY MATTERS
An E.on engineer came this morning and fitted a new 4G Comms hub, his checks verified that it was communicating with E.on again. Hopefully it'll last this time.

Re: ENERGY MATTERS
Yes Kev, I note form a message I had from EE the other day that 4G is available to me at no extra cost but evidently my phone can't use it. However it would appear that I have the possibility of a 4G connection. Should I start nagging them again? Is it worth the time and trouble?

Electric and gas reads are showing in the E.on app for yesterday, which is good. Hopefully the communication continues

Re: ENERGY MATTERS
The only communication I can rely on is that BG will ask me to read my 'smart' meters on the 22nd....

Re: ENERGY MATTERS
Word on the street is that power is off in Barlick Town Square, unofficial reports are that contractors have gone through a cable.

Re: ENERGY MATTERS
Yes electric was off most of the day and was still off at 6pm in our shop on Ellis Street. I think it is the guys working on the paving at Post Office Buildings that did the deed.

Re: ENERGY MATTERS
I saw the activity there when I went to the chemists.... Didn't affect us, we are on different cables on this side of the fire station which is where the big junction is for all the cables.

Re: ENERGY MATTERS
My fixed tariff with British Gas (electricity only) is due to come to an end next month and I'm being offered another 18 month fixed tariff, which is less than the last one. The quote for a Standard Variable tariff is roughly £1 a month cheaper.
I've never had to deal with this before and I definitely don't feel inclined to change supplier right now. Common sense tells me to fix again with things the way they are but advice would be welcome please.

Re: ENERGY MATTERS
Do no harm to go online and get a quote from Octopus. Be armed with your current rate per kWh and your daily standing charge. 18 months is a long time these days. If you like what you see - get Ian to propose you and I think you will both get a £50 reward - I assume that offer is still going. Changing supplier is usually painless.
This is not financial advice. "I know nothing". Do what you think best.

Re: ENERGY MATTERS
I'm not changing supplier because every time we have in the last few years they insist on changing smart meters, which never work up here.
I have enough to stress about at the moment! Fixed or variable, that's the question!
Re: ENERGY MATTERS
Personally I would fix. I did for 18 months which expires in May next year. I suspect the price cap will increase in July...
I would imagine the fixed rate offered is less as some of the 'green' levys have been removed from energy prices (my fixed tariff reduced at the beginning of April).
As a reference this is what I currently pay for electric From what I can see the current Ofgem cap is
Fuel Price per kWh Daily standing charge*
Electricity 24.67p 57.21p
