This morning was a day of small things.... Clean the CI chips off Mrs Harrison, change a wheel on the bench grinder and dress it. Sort through my bits and pieces for the non-ferocious castings and stock I have to work with as I assemble the engine. Re-grind my HSS cutter in the lathe and generally tidy up ready for the next move forwards which will be the gland for the piston rod.... But next I need to have my breakfast and second sleep

Morning

What was forecast to be a cloudy day , yesterday turned out to be a lovely and sunny one. I washed, ironed, pottered in the garden and at sewing and also spent an hour or so sitting reading in the conservatory whilst Bob was out. I feel a similar day coming on for today. Rain was forecast for most of the day but now it seems there is only going to be a little this morning, though much cooler than it has been.

Have good day all

I shall be in the shed early doors for an hour with my castings.... I doubt if I will go out if the forecast of heavy rain is correct but we won't be sure until it actually arrives!

No image this morning as there is nothing finished. The morning was spent on working on the valve-rod and piston rod glands. I did half an hour on them and now I am chasing my breakfast.

Morning

Its a dull windy day with rain forecast all day. I am inTodmorden this morning for a talk in my history group. Bob was going as well but the house alarm people phoned to say they would like to come this morning to do the annual check. This afternoon I shall sew. My sewing has been on hold whilst I have been teaching Lucy. She has exams all week and won’t be coming till next Monday afternoon so I am working through finishing and repairing things. Yesterday I repaired a cotton top, finished another one and did the button holes for the jacket of my suit. I think the latter needs another button hole but it will be sometime before I see Maxine to try it on and discuss it.

Rain is forecast in the next hour. Have a good day all

Morning Sue, yes we have had a shower as well but not the heavy significant rain that was forecast. I hope your day goes well. I am just back in the world after a good second sleep.

I shall be in the shed early doors working on my castings. After second sleep I shall have to start thinking about cooking chickens and shopping for veggies. That time has come round very quickly.
Later.... Domestic Matters arose and cut into shed time. The sky will not fall!

Morning

I spent the afternoon sewing yesterday, following a very good u3a history talk in the morning. The dress I was making which was the same as the one Lucy made , needs a major refit as it has worked out much too big. I have put it on one side for now and will continue with things that I know do fit. Lucy isn’t coming this week as she has a week of exams and revision so I can continue with my projects. This morning I have physio for my shoulder and as I am not doing pilates this evening I can carry on with those.

The rain was not too heavy yesterday but did continue all day and through the night. Today is much the same but a drier afternoon forecast. Have a good day all

I have a funeral to go to this afternoon. A good friend and member of our unofficial library group died suddenly from heart failure a couple of weeks ago. It was such a shock, and we haven't quite come to terms with the fact that such a vibrant personality has gone from our lives. Jill Pengelly was well known around Colne and I think it will be a very well attended funeral.

Sad news, I saw details on Facebook. Condolences.

We had sad news here too, the crash at Gisburn last week (a five year old girl died a few days after in hospital) was one of my neighbours. The girl's twin brother and their grandma are still in hospital.

Hearing accounts of things like that reminds me that life sometimes turns against you. It happens to us all at times.....
Looking at today, I shall decline the shed because I want to prepare my chicken and get it in the oven. we have reached the point where I have to start cooking again! Later, after second sleep and dealing with my chicken I have to go to the Co-op to finish my veggie shopping.....

Morning

Yesterday morning I had physio on my neck, we do at last seem to be getting some improvement with the trapped nerve only firing every now and again. I shall continue with the exercises and have another appointment next week. In the afternoon I abandoned my sewing and went to see Maxine, just for a cuppa and a chat.

This morning I have nothing planned but at lunchtime we are off to the Town Hall restaurant for lunch. Claire and Adam gave us a voucher for Christmas, which we had saved until the weather was good enough to walk down. We booked it 3 weeks ago but now rain is forecast mid morning for the next 24 hours so we shall go down by car. Perhaps the rain will not arrive like yesterday when we had a good afternoon.

Have a good day all

More work on the piston rod gland. Make it a fit for the lid, mark and drill clearance for 5BA, mark it for orientation. Then use the gland as template for marking the boss on the lid, drill and tap for 5BA studs and then offer up to the lid. Still a bit of work needed on the gland but that will do tomorrow.... Now I want breakfast.....
