I forgot to mention that the sale of Kayfield & Hemp Butts in 1774 followed the death of a Robert Walshman.
Back to the muck heap this morning. Some neighbours took a couple of trailer loads of well rotted stuff away yesterday, so now I can move more recent contributions to the back and tidy everything up. I do like feeling the heat from the heap through my wellies on a cold morning.....

I expect there are certain warm fuzzy feelings to be had over a pile of fresh manure, Wendy.
I am not ruling it out as a source of pleasure... :geek:

Wendy, you've reminded me of the old days. 60 years ago, a hard frost which froze the ground and meant we didn't make a mess poaching the land. Loading steaming muck into the Massey-Harris spreader. Your feet were warm and so was the rest of you from the work! Wonderful how the vapours from the pile could clear a cold and give you an appetite. Good days..... Other memories as well, getting to the field and finding the draw pin had jumped out and I no longer had a spreader attached! Uncovering a shrew in the heap which bit me when I touched it. Hitting a pocket of pig and human muck mixed, not quite as wholesome as the rest. (We had a dry earth trench under the lavatory which mixed in with the liquid muck from the pig sty.)
Schedule today is reading, looking after Jack and eating plain food.

Resting aching muscles from weekend exertions of Switch On and Remembrance Day.

On Friday morning, I was mainly occupied with a swollen tongue which prevented speech. Bob Kenny was amused at the way it had silenced me!

Fortunately (for me!), the course of steroids has done the trick and normal speech is possible.

Funny how a couple of typo's can change a sentence. Your last post Sue sound like it could have come from the mouth of the French "Gendarme" in "Allo Allo".

Hope you both feel butter soon

My Christmas cactus today! This is a plant I tend to forget about, I rarely water it and never feed it. It sits in the least used room in the house month in and month out.
