Up since 06.15 - about usual. I like to get an hour or so work done on weekend mornings as its quiet and I seem to get more done. Report that needs to be out for Tuesday is progressing well and should be finished with lots of time to spare. Pace hots up for me a little as I'm trying to get 4 weeks work into 3 so that I only have one day out between Xmas and New Year. I believe some shopping is planned in Burnley this morning, only fair I should show willing as Cath did come to the rugby with me yesterday. Nolic

Early mornings are the best time for me. In fact this morning I was up by 02:30, no problem, I just woke up wide awake. I seem to need less sleep as I get older and my body takes what it needs. In the days when I was doing 40 hours in the first two days of the week I always slept Tuesday night until I woke and it was usually about eight o'clock, my body was making up for lost sleep. It's what I alluded to in Medical matters, I trust my body to look after itself and it seems to work. Perhaps I am just lucky. By the way, I'm very good at cat-napping, always have been and I think that is a very good thing if you can do it. When I was delivering tanker milk early in the morning the dairy workers knew that while I was tipping I would be asleep in the cab, they woke me up when they needed me to wash out. Twenty minutes like that kept me straight.
Today I shall chase Orange up about my broadband speed but otherwise its keeping warm, looking after Jack and reading le Carre. Tough, but someone has to do it. Wendy and her horses will have a chilly but dry day today.....

I really only go to the library to enjoy the warmth! I pile the layers of clothing on when I get back. I was considering the outdoor jacket I am wearing at the moment for mucking out etc and decided that it is almost 20 years old. Its a Musto, fleece lined one, bought in the days when I could afford to buy something with a bit of quality!
Off to Wyke near Bradford today for my uncle's funeral. He was a sweet, gentle man who always looked out for other people...a good uncle to have had. My mum is now the last of her generation of family & friends still around.

And long may she live Wendy. Today I will be mainly cleaning and getting the house into some sort of order ready for the festive season. Not been able to do a lot with having the eye op but it's now 6 weeks ago so I can now take on tasks again such as hoovering. Eileen

Shopping and cleaning today. Making the most of peace and quiet until the big lad returns on Monday and the princess on Friday.
Little madam would have me believe that she is staying on after Uni finishes to get some work done. But the wonders of tracking your kids through Facebook tells me that she's also off down to London partying ( less than £25 return on the coach from Leeds). I'm actually quite pleased about that as I know she has submitted all her work ahead of time and she's not out socialising much during term time. Nolic

Facebook can be dangerous. I can still see daughter Susan's face when she announced at a dinner with close friends that she had something to tell us. I cracked and couldn't resist saying "If it's about you and Mick getting married don't bother, Holly (grand-daughter) blurted on Facebook and Margaret picked it up before she erased it". We all knew and were waiting with interest to see how long she kept it to herself. I'm glad to say that Susan saw the joke.....
I did the same Eileen, got done what had to be done and kept warm for the rest of the day with 50 Shades of Grey..

Comrade I agree about Facebook and believe it should be used with care. I also believe that they should have tighter controls on membership and not allow anyone under 18 on. Young people can put far too much personal information on their that can lead to bullying and worse. It also gives a slanted touch to social interaction and can discourage actual social contact face to face. However it does have its uses and can be quite entertaining. Nolic

I take it you mean the book Stanley, I have read all three and must say that the story revolves if you can get over the raunchy bits at the beginning. Today I will be catching up with the ironing. Eileen

Brittany calls. It's very sunny, fairly warm but with squally showers, and very, very windy. We are only here a few days, then back home. We shall clear the flower borders plant some trees, have a few friends for a soirée, then close up for the winter. There are no more intended visits until about the end of February

Eileen, I take it you meant evolve... Leave aside the fruity bits which come as no surprise to anyone who has knocked about a but, the plot is engaging if a tad shallow but it's holding my attention and I am engaging with it and a really bad book doesn't do this for me, I'm picky. Apart from that, the thing that intrigues me is that all my grand daughters have read it and I'm glad because knowledge is power and I don't think they will all be dashing out to buy the impedimenta! I once came across an organisation in the US which was dedicated to informing young women about the slightly advanced aspects of sex that perhaps mothers themselves were unaware of. I talked to one of the organisers and she told me that it was amazing how ignorant many grown women were about the most basic aspects of sexual pleasure. I thought it was thoroughly laudable that this aspect of life education was being addressed. There is a lot to be said for having an open mind..... Too many repressed people out there and they miss so much. (I'm on part three)

I didn't particularly want to read it and it isn't compulsory but a friend lent me the trilogy and I personally found it easy holiday reading. It's a love story that evolves and the light porn is put in for the younger market who think they have invented sex. Another friend said she preferred Harold Robbins! Today I shall be mainly researching my family history programme with a visit to the library. Then the friend that lent me 50's is calling to collect. Eileen

It's a lovely springlike day here in Brittany. I have been clearing flower borders and pruning shrubs and deadheading my hydrangeas. I have had to come inside now as I have back ache... A sure sign I have done too much. Bob is planting some trees

Today I will be visiting a friend and then a bit of research on my family history ready for tomorrow when I will be going to the library. Hopefully will gather enough info to carry on over the Xmas period when the library is closed. Eileen
