Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
No major projects in view. Just tramming along looking after myself and enjoying a warm and healthy retirement! That's my job these days, to stay alive as long as possible so my kids and grand kids have an anchor in the past. My daughters tell me that the mere fact I am alive and out there doing stuff is an asset for them. I shall do my best!

Last minute preparations for family arriving to visit for a couple of days. We were hoping to get out and do some walking, but the weather doesn't look too promising.

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
We decided to brave the weather and get out walking! The fields are too wet, so we decided to try out the new Pennine Bridleway from here to Wycoller. It is mostly on a newly made track, so was good underfoot. Just one problem where a tiny stream had become a torrent too deep to ford, but a bit of searching and we found a place narrow enough to leap across. We had taken a car down to the car park at Wycoller earlier on for the journey back home, so it was probably a 4 to 4.5 mile walk. Soaking wet but refreshed!

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
You're as bad as My Susan and her ex army husband Mick. He's got her in training for the Coast to Coast walk they are going to do. He makes her do ridiculous distances carrying the same weight they will have on the walk. Strange thing is she's enjoying it apart from the fact her new and very expensive boots have a fault and she is having to fight to get a new pair.
Today, apart from normal Jack care and looking after myself I shall attack the tangle of wires that has built up over the last 12 years behind my computer. I'm certain that much of it is redundant and has 'just growed' over the years! (Nothing to do with the trip problem, just overdue house-keeping)

Taking the lad back to Liverpool today. He's back 2 weeks early as he wants to make full use of the library. A couple of years ago I would have doubted that but he has been working hard over the break he's had. Not a nice day fro driving. Nolic

Comrade, he's studying aero engineering. From M58 to Liverpool and back to M58 junction with M6 weather was beautiful. Blue sky and fluffy white clouds. Good views over Liverpool bay from Everton Heights. Nolic

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
Moh! You brought back memories of Vera making turkey sandwiches for me to take on my trips with the wagon for what seemed to be an age after Xmas. There is only a certain time when turkey and stuffing tastes good!
I shall be taking it easy, looking after Jack and perhaps reflecting on years gone by, I have a very good memory....... Daft as it sounds, I love getting a volume of me memoirs down and reading some of it....

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
Well Dave and I only got a turkey joint at Christmas as it is enough for 2 we enjoyed it so much as we were not eating it all week that we got another for new years day. Just enough for sandwiches today and that's it. I know what you mean though Moh and Stanley. One year I was going home for Christmas lunch so mam bought the usual turkey 8-10lbs as there was then only 4 of us and then one of my brothers won a turkey in the Christmas raffle 15lb. Mam cooked one in her oven I cooked the other one at my house luckily by this time we had freezers so the meat was taken off and frozen. It didn't stop us having to have it curried, rissotto, soup, in pies etc as well as turkey sandwiches but waste not want not was always the motto. Today I will be catching up with washing etc. Eileen

This is definitely indoors weather.... I might treat myself to a little online shopping today. I've found that my waistcoats fot me again and I do like them. They don't look right with Tee shirts so it's perhaps time I grew up......

Would you believe it, more Birtwistles - I am slowly plodding throught them and bringing them more up to date with the help of the 1911 census and the new records on Ancestry.
