searching for Sharon laycock
Hi there,
I wonder If you could help me out in ine way or the other.
I am Tom From Holland, and I am searching for a lady called Sharon laycock from Barnoldswick.
we met in 1986 in Spain (Callella,Malgrat) she was there with her mum ,dad, and little brother.
I believe she even worked at the tourist information back in the day
we were penpalls for a few years and then i lost track of her.
I was 13 or 14 and sharon was a bit older
I am so curious how she's doing today
Do you know Sharon? Do you Know someone who might know her?
Please help me out if You can,
Grtz, Tom Verkooijen , From Beverwijk Holland

Re: searching for Sharon laycock
Welcome to the site Tom. Laycock is a common name in the town and the local buses were run by the Laycock family for many years. I think you might get a response. One thing you could do is go on the BT site and search for Laycock Barnoldswick. There are a whole bunch of them in the telephone book. A couple of cold calls could be a good thing?

Re: searching for Sharon laycock
Is it possible that this whole thread is inappropriate, and should be deleted? We have no idea as to the bona fides of the enquirer, or whether his search would be welcomed by the target - or her husband. Or am I just an old fogey with no sense of adventure. There is a reason that census results are kept closed for 100 years.

David, I think you can rest easy. All the information on here is public record and available to skilled researchers like Gloria and Wendy. As for the identity of the poster, the same could be said for everyone on the site! You could be David Trippier, ex MP!

Re: searching for Sharon laycock
Spending two years in HMC&E at Dover, had the effect of making me never take anything at face value. You'd think it would have worn off after all those years, but it hasn't. In fact constantly doubting peoples' word got me down after a while, so I left. However I consider that I had a good nose for sniffing when something did not add up.
No Stanley once again - I am not Sir David. Gordon Prentice made the same assumption when I queried getting mailings from Pendle Labour Party. I have read his biography "Lend me your ears" where he mentions absolutely everyone by name he has ever known - sure to sell a few copies like that. In fact he is the absolute diametric opposite of me.
At the last count there were, I think, eight of us. I'm the main one of course - the others are imposters.

Re: searching for Sharon laycock
Funny you should say that Tripps, but when I was logging on to this I wondered what it would be like to find the same topic on some other website about myself. And, also to find speculation as to who I had married etc, I must admit I did not feel comfortable with it.
Following my own feelings I am going to delete my post.

I'm not comfortable with the request made by Tom asking members to ask around. Searching for ex-pen pals is not an appropriate function for One Guy in my opinion. Nolic

I have no problem with this topic, but if some of our members feel that it is unsuitable then perhaps it should be deleted.

Re: searching for Sharon laycock
I have deleted my own post about a possible marriage, can we lock the topic to stop any more being added? That way the historical information that Stanley posted remains as does an explanation of members concerns.
