Re: MYSTERY OBJECTS
I even have a fly net for mine, which thankfully is removable, because it is not a fashion statement. I only take my fly net on holidays to remote locations or 'up the river'. ( Febby way too fashion conscious to wear a fly net). I like to use both hands for other things rather than wave the flies away.
A couple of years ago my son borrowed Febby's hat..and unfortunately it blew off his head whilst speeding up the river in the dinghy and was lost to the legend of Murray River currents. ( gasps all round) We almost had to hold a wake, such was the tragedy, and several beers were sunk in remembrance.
And I had to buy him a new one! ( which has never managed to fill the space left by the original).
One minute silence held when we pass the spot where original was lost. Son hides in the loo until it is safe to resurface.
Nowt like an Aussie hat. ( sniff)

Re: MYSTERY OBJECTS

Re: MYSTERY OBJECTS
My hats get the same degree of reverence Maz. I always remember walking through the bush with an Aussie friend and his back was covered with flies. Being an Englishman I batted them off and he pointed out that my sweat soaked shirt was covered as well and it was best to leave them there as while they were on your back they weren't troubling your face. You live and learn.....
Sticking with labels, what can you tell me about this one?

Re: MYSTERY OBJECTS
China, yes, but look closely, what exactly is the label telling you? Cathy, no it's a towel but I got a dressing gown at the same time. Young Tom, dead right and that's where I did my shopping. Now that's a good clue, have a look at that label again!

Re: MYSTERY OBJECTS
The corner is cut off the label. You bought a seconds from their factory shop in Hyde? Or is it just frayed?
Actually, thinking about it, the label states established 1850, over one hundred years. So you must have bought it around 1950, as it would presumably state established 110 years in 1960.
You like to get good use out of your purchases if you've had it since 1950, 63 years. Nearly as old as me.

Re: MYSTERY OBJECTS
China spotted it. Ashton Brothers sold seconds and to show what they were cut the corner off the label, but in this case only just. Bought it when we were re-tubing a boiler in the late 1980s. Good towels, I have yet to wear one out!
Now I have to put my thinking cap back on......

Please Stanley...no pics of any interesting aspects of your undies...even if the thirty year old elastic is doing remarkably well..

Bloody hell Maz! You're cutting back on me options! How did you know I was considering me Sloggi budgie smugglers.....? (I wonder where those Speedos went?)

But enough of this. I need to find a proper mystery object!
