Another sunny day but a cool start after a frost last night. Cleaning done, one bit of gardening to do. The shower is fixed and now functional. It's a big house and with only one bathroom it was difficult when we get our summer visitors. Now we have a separate shower room. Today we are having a clear out to our local branch of Emmaus.

Same again, although a little cooler. House clean, gardening done, back from lunch out. Packed and all set or not all set as the case may be to return home. I can't believe the difference in a week. Last week no leaves on the trees and no flowers on the flowering trees. This week all is green and floral.

Today I'm awaiting a delivery of timber. The last of our finches died a couple of weeks ago, and now my partner wants me to convert the aviary into a gardening shed. We have struck a deal I will do all the constuction work and pay for materials, and she will paint it.

Good start made timber arrived at 08.15, one end of the aviary is now timber clad and the better half has given it a coat of paint,if the weather stays fine the front will be started tomorrow.

It would seem that today I shall mainly be singing along with Finlay's newly discovered "In the Night Garden" talking book. He has just found it in the bottom of the toy box. All together now..."Yes my name is Iggle Piggle, Iglle Piggle Wiggle Wiggle Wiggle, Yes my name is Iggle Piggle, Igle Piggle Wiggle Wiggle Woo". If anyone doesn't know the tune I can come round and teach them, I'm an expert!

Third time around for Night Garden for me, already done with Ruby and Isla. We are on to Upsy Daisy now. Only problem is that Finlay likes to press the same button over and over and over and over......Aaaarghh!

Thanks Pete, but with two Granddaughters who have both been Peppa fans I'm already a bit like Daddy Pig, "I'm an expert at that". I am even a member of the "How many jobs does Miss Rabbit have" Facebook site. :laugh5:

Perhaps it is best that I am not a grandparent...I am sure I would be fine once I got in the zone though.
Kids love repetitive thinngs, but most of all I bet they bask in the attention of their grandparents. What a wonderful job you all do. Bouquets to all of you at the coal face of children's entertainment.

The key to being a popular grandparent is to always take the child's side against the parents! Simples!

....and always have sweeties secreted somewhere about your person, and put more bubbles in the bath than Mum does, and turn a blind eye to yucky vegetable bothers, and have the most vivid imagination, and believe in fairies, and be willing to get hands on with mud pies, AND always smell of freshly baked biscuits...
...and put your hand in your pocket on every visit to jiggle coins for pocket money...

( see...I could be a grandparent..I must have more faith in myself). :laugh5:

I'm glad to say we've moved on from Iggle Piggle; I would like to know, however, how many Barbies is enough? 2 girls and more Barbies than they can count ....and can they all live in the same Barbie house? Boys are a little easier - paper aeroplanes at the moment.

But I love being a Grandma!!

And me a Grandpa Liz. I am told that Barbies are a bit like shoes and for little girls you can never have enough! We have our fair share for when the girls come, (why does Ken always have to be naked?). Finlay is not at the paper plane stage just yet, he likes ripping paper up though. He is showing strong signs of maybe becoming a mountaineer!

Need to decide today as to whether I take on more work. Been approached by a company to undertake some regular training and consultancy for them. Given that I've turned down work from providers that I don't really care for or want to be associated with I'm very tempted. Decision needs to be made by mid-afternoon but I think its already been made. I'll contemplate some more.......Nolic

Conversion of aviary to garden shed completed, new wood painted, old wood jet washed then painted, when I went to put away my tools my Mrs said there was a couple of more jobs, she wants a new tail gate to the side of the house, and the iron work to the frontage derusting and painting. Good as I look out it is starting to rain time for a rest.
