I'm no painting buff, but something in the old grey cells told me it might be a Holbein and a quick google told me that it is The Ambassadors by Hans Holbein the Younger. The strange object in the foreground is an anamorphic skull :smile: A perspective trick which means that the skull can only be seen clearly when the painting is approached from the side.

A good game for learning your old masters is on the "Free Rice" website. I love the word game, but you can also earn a few grains of rice by guessing the artist...
