Today I shall be Mainly...
Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
Ahhh...there...you see...all things come to those who wait.
Feeling MUCH better today.
So I must catch up with the housework and shift some of this dog hair! There are small mountains of it that have collected in every corner. Anyone would think I hadn't hoovered for weeks...it has only been 48 hours.
( though son and pooch are moving out mid-January and we can recapture a state of cleanliness in our abode. Hallelululah!)

That's the sort you get when you have a good immune system Maz. Glad the gropes have gone!
Looking forward to tomorrow when I finish the eye drops. One more sleep to go!

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
Still available for 'gropes'. So long as they don't coincide with the gripes!
Had a short relapse this afternoon and had a twenty minute lay on the bed, but fine since.
Managed a good dinner, with no problems. Even had a glass of wine. ( hope I don't live to regret it).

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
Trying not to sing "Fog on the Tyne" as I keep up the struggle to tidy the house for Xmas visitors. We went to see Lindisfarne last night at the Royal Hall in Harrogate....very entertaining. I haven't been to the Royal Hall since I saw the Walker Brothers there in 1965...I was right in front of the stage and I touched Scott's foot!! Perhaps I'll try singing "The sun ain't gonna shine any more" instead. All a bit gloomy on the weather front.....
Looked out for signs of Mrs Trellis and Beamsley Bob on the way home, but there were none.

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
Did you throw any articles of intimate apparel at the stage, Wendy....you know...like you did in 1965?

I shall finish wrapping the last of the presents, then do a bit of Art , I think.

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
Not doing terribly much today - it is too hot. That is my opinion, as I recline gracefully on the couch, with Ipad in hand and glass of water at the ready. Blinds are down and air-conditioner is running. Am very comfortable...
Watered the garden and gave the pot plants a drink earlier, and it took just 7 mins for a load of washing to dry on the line earlier. Bet you can beat that.

I'm up Maz and have brewed. Cold but dry outside, no air con needed. Major task is to finish burning the stove off, it would have taken too long yesterday. Then I'll give it and the flue a good clean.... Exciting stuff eh? After my first attack on the blockage I got a good draught but decided to run it hot to burn the deposits out of the flue. Good call because even with a clear bright fire the chimney smoked for about 4 hours as the deposits burned. Must have been ready for a clean!

Very sophisticated behaviour...a bit beyond the 15 year old me!Marilyn wrote:Did you throw any articles of intimate apparel at the stage, Wendy....you know...like you did in 1965?
Happy Birthday Julie
The motor on my trusty Dyson vac expired at the first dog haired challenge yesterday morning so cleaning was seriously delayed No time for cleaning today as I'm off to Christine Bradley's retirement do at Colne Library, then we have an appointment with an interviewer from the Office of National Statistics.......should be fun.
Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
Eeeee...guess who will be getting a new vac for Christmas ( such a romantic present...NOT!)
And I understand about the underwear...can't imagine they were a presentable size or shade to throw in 1965. Everything I owned in 1965 seemed to encase me neck to knee and be coloured grey. Mind you, I was only a mite in 1965.
Think of it as being another year wiser, Julie! Age is only an issue if you are a wine or a cheese.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JULIE (who would want to vacuum on their birthday anyway? )
I know I'm in my own little world, but it's OK... they know me here.
Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
For my 14 th birthday present I went to Newcastle city Hall, to see Cliff Richard. I too was on the front row and like Wendy was very well behaved. I remember screaming because the older girl sat next to me said I had to the ticket was 12/6d. This year we paid over £50 and we were sat near the back, front row prices were out of the question and impossible to get.you have to buy tickets nearly a year before hand and within24 hours of their release. Choice of seat isn't really an option. I know not everyone likes Cliff but I do. I went off him in the 70s, naff songs and he will release his worst song on his albums as singles, but believe me his shows are spectacular, slick and very professional.

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
Wendy wasn't vacuuming on her birthday.
This is getting weirdly confusing.
Might have a glass of wine and sit quietly for a moment...let the marbles settle again.

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
When I was about 15 I went to see the Rolling Stones here in Adelaide, 43 years later they are back (again) for a concert (I think in February ?) it was sold out almost immediately. Not bad for the rock-cool granddaddies.
Sorry Julie, sorry Wendy. Duh!

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
I'm afraid I was never a Cliff Richards fan. My kids used to get very annoyed with me when I told them that one of these days he would be found out! Something very creepy about his Goody Two Shoes act... I note that Rod Stewart has joined Cliff in yet another Xmas album. You lot must be ecstatic.
I shall be keeping warm, avoiding being out in wet windy weather if possible and having a good read. The nearest I shall come to useful activity will be a bit of fruit and veg shopping at dinnertime.

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
Yes, thank you for all the conratulations (ooer that must be the Cliff influence) another year successfully completed. I started this year off with a lie-in and posting a reply on OneGuy, it augers well. Off to Norwich today or tomorrow, loins being girded as I type.

Exactly Belle, and the next time I'm in Harrogate I'll meet you on the corner when the lights are coming on!
Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
In the extreme heat, we were like a well organised strike force, as we tackled the festive task of first visiting the Grog Shop, then the Greengrocer.
Supermarket tomorrow.
Then assumed the layback position on the couch with long glass of cold water in hand.
Phew....it is hot out there. My beautiful garden all frazzled to a crisp. It's enough to make me weep.
Dog is spending the day spread-eagled on the tiled bathroom floor. Probably the coolest place for her.
