Re: MYSTERY OBJECTS
They don't have the normal benchmark arrow on for a spot height, pre-date O.S? With one at 500 and the other at 800 it can't be anything to do with the canal which would have been my next guess. I have wandered all over the fields and paths of Barlick all my life and I have to say I haven't a clue on this one.

Sorry to be boring and leave you guessing, but I need to go out soon.PanBiker wrote:I haven't a clue on this one.
Re: MYSTERY OBJECTS
They are part of Barlick's WW2 home defence ranging stones. So that the archers could get a measure on the Panza tanks before they could enter Barlick.

Re: MYSTERY OBJECTS
David gave the clue. They are cores from the bore at Whitemoor water works. The one I posted is in Letcliffe Park. Try this one....

Of course correct, my example is in one of the 'pocket gardens' on Calf Hall Road.Stanley wrote:They are cores from the bore at Whitemoor water works.

Re: MYSTERY OBJECTS
Good suggestions but I think I ought to come clean. It's Room 600 in the Nuremberg Courts of Justice where the War trials were held.... A sobering place to visit.... Try this one....

Re: MYSTERY OBJECTS
Glo, Wendy and Ian got it right. It's the remains of the podium where Hitler stood at the Nuremberg rallies, the old Zeppelin Field. The road across the front is the 'Marching Road and pointed directly towards the Kaiserburg which was the seat of the hereditary Electors in Nuremberg and at one time the seat of the Holy Roman Emperor. After the war a large office block was built to obscure the view. Hitler was tapping into the history of Germany and its legends and myths to reinforce his warped ideology. See Leni Riefenstahl's 'Triumph of the Will' which was filmed there during a rally. Frightening stuff!

Name the bridge.

Re: MYSTERY OBJECTS
Of course it is. The thing that grabbed me was the 'Hooverville' on the shore. Homeless people living within a stone throw of one of the richest cities in the world.
Try this....
