Is that the voice of another Disc world fan. That man had much to say and always thought provoking. Is it safe now to re post something that concerns Barlick?:-

A call from the Chairman of the local history society last night caused a bit of panic over the dates of this years "Barnoldswick Heritage Weekend". He was convinced that I had got my dates wrong. Having spoken with two main people involved the confusion is now sorted. Barnoldswick Heritage Weekend "will" be on the 6th and 7th of September 2014. The National Heritage Weekend is on the dates that generated the call, the 13th and 14th of September. It is as well that this glitch has been sorted as 6 months work would have gone down the pan in a flash. It was all caused by the Bancroft Steam Museums announcement that they would be "steaming" on the Heritage Weekend, 13th and 16th of September, wrong Heritage!!!

The final word is that "Barnoldswick Heritage Weekend" the Wartime Weekend "WILL" be on the 6th and 7th of September 2014!

I don't as that was the very definition of a troll who particularly on the climate change and science forums posted only to annoy and provoke an emotional response. It was increasingly creeping into other forums, hence the postings above. Their leaving is of a one with the typical behaviour, self-justificatory and wholly lacking in self-awareness. There are plenty of people on here who I don't agree with but they are generally polite and civil and for the most part informative and willing to engage. And just to note, I know I'm no angel, but I do at least hope I give the impression of trying.

On this, what is billed as the UK's premier WWI remembrance event is due in Liverpool 23 - 27 July this year. Details here:

It is likely the 'Little Girl Giant' will spend some time round St George's Square where the Liverpool Pals all signed up, as well as 'sleeping' in Newsome Park. I would encourage anyone who can to come and see some of this, as it is quite the most remarkable event. Last time she was here to tell her story (the Titanic remembrance), it reduced many in the crowd to tears.

It is not yet known what story she will tell this time as she roams the Liverpool streets over the days with her pet dog, 'Xolo'.

Bruff. I have two main objectives regarding the Centenary and this year. 1. The Barnoldswick Heritage/Wartime Weekend in September, and 2. the Book about Barnoldswicks contribution to conflict which will hopefully be launched at that event in September. Six months have already gone into 1. and two and a half years into 2. Last years re dedication event brought the book to a halt for a while, but it is now in the formatting and editing process. In short, I do not have the time to start looking at what is happening elsewhere, that is up to the individual.

Richard, I understand that point of view and on one of Pluggy's grumpy days I would agree with you but so often the way people post is a reflection of their character and feelings of inadequacy which they hide behind quite annoying posts. At the moment I'm in a good mood and agree with Kev, indeed Hartley would have been most annoyed if he had been privy to the moderator's discussions (we do talk to each other....) and found I was arguing for leniency. I suppose our policy is to give offenders enough rope to hang themselves or wait until they get fed up and go away. Yes, he could get nasty, he attacked me almost every day but it was nowhere near as serious as some we have seen before. And yes, if someone really does go over the top they get the bullet but that's definitely the last resort. I get the feeling that even though Hartley quoted the 43 sites he regularly posts on (Really?) we were perhaps the only people responding to him.

It relates to behaviours within small "isolated" communities. Very commonly seen within the play ground, classroom, clubs and things.

Who wants to be in my gang and all that kind of stuff, close relationships that often fear outsiders. Sometimes involves narcissism, command and control, etc

I had to read an awful lot of it at Uni, it was the basis of my final dissertation and many of a manager's skills are identifying when certain things occur.

Well known phenomenon and written about profusely, but I won't tell you who else used the same words as they are obvious by their absence and I keep confidences. If you're interested you'll research the subject, maybe even change the behaviour so that no one else uses the same words.

Fascinating. To my, admittedly prosaic, mind I thought the original comment 'without the ladies' was referring to the female posters on these threads - that is, the women are 'good' posters, the men 'bad' posters.
