It would make a good solid pillow! Clue, It's a complete warp, why is it packed like this?

Yes, but any ideas why it is packaged like this? Think where it may be being sent to....

I think it's gone far enough. One of the ways cotton warps were sent for dying was in a large bundle like this. At the dye works it was made into a chain by making a loop and passing the next loop through the first and so on. 'Chain Warp Dyeing'. This is one made at Ellenroad Mill at Newhey for this trade.
Next for shaving anyone?

It's a pin/tack on a cork notice board.

Yes, the mysterious thing is that there's space on the board and a spare push pin as well!

China has it exactly right. It was among some assorted tat I got when I bought a workshop. It has an honoured place in the front room with all my other curios. Apart from a bubble in the liquid it's as good as the day it was made. They often have the maker's name on but I can't find anything on this. Try this.....

Its some form of eyepiece for an optical instrument. Possibly binoculars as Kev says or maybe a telescope.

Knowing Stanley will want it more precise, I would say its from a pair of German Naval binoculars.

Not there yet. Yes it's optical but think of where you would need an easily adjustable object lens like this. I use it for reading fine detail in the shed.
