WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
Well in all truth, we don't eat roasts...just cook 'em for our kids! They love them.
And I take the opportunity to stuff them with Veg at every occasion...Last night we had Roast Spuds, Roast Beetroot, Roast Pumpkin, Roast carrots, Roast Onion and steamed Bok Choy.
We had Salmon Patties tonight. A much simpler meal when it's just us.

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
I hit the veggie trail yesterday. New potatoes, cauliflower and peas with four small sausage for dinner. My eyes were bigger than my belly and for tea I just had four small cold sausage and two boiled eggs....

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
I like to get my meals sorted first thing in the morning Moh, then I can get on with the rest of the day and feed myself with minimum effort. That's why I love slow cooking on the stove in the front room in winter. It takes care of itself and all you have to do is dole it out!
I treated myself to two teacakes and had Haslet salad and boiled egg butties X two for dinner and tea. I have a loaf in the machine, some spuds and Carrots on stand-by and burgers and sausage in the fridge.... We will not starve today!

The trouble when it is hot is that we never seem hungry. Tonight is lamb chops, new potatoes & fresh garden peas.

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
I had a Magnum for dinner when I got three, one each for Susan, Joanne and myself. Tea was potatoes, carrots, peas and two burgers. Filled up with a meat pie.

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
We seem to have that problem for about six months of the year, Moh! When it gets over 35 degrees, all thoughts of food disappear.
Turkey Sausages tonight. Thought we would give them a try, maybe with a bit of Mash, Baby Peas, Cauliflower and Green Beans.
I cant see myself getting too excited about them, but I do have an appetite after cleaning windows all morning. (lovely sunny winter's day here but very windy...and my hair is looking rather scarey after all that effort).

I wish my thoughts of food would disappear. Mind you, thoughts of making it evaporate in the heat; Thai takeaway on Saturday and a frozen pizza yesterday...

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
I'm surprised at you David! I am no fan of the "Eat, don't cook" brigade! I know exactly what I'm eating, do you? Did you know that more 'Mozzarella cheese' is used on pizzas than all the buffaloes in the world could possibly provide? I've seen it made from out of date mouldy cheese from supermarkets....

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
Crap lifestyle at the moment Stanley, as well as warm weather deterring any cooking. Plenty of fresh salad vegetables and loads of soft fruit though; have gone through 4kg of tomatoes alone in the last 8 days... The Thai takeaway from Newtown is quite healthy, too, with very light sauces and al dente vegetables.
The next month will probably be expensive eating, as well as light on homecooking; being tied to the Beach leads to butties from shops and cafe meals (partly as a reward to the kids for putting up with it all). Have tried cooking batches of stuff to reheat at the Beach, but it's never worked very well.
Later: half a grapefruit, bowl of porridge, handful of strawberries, slack handful of sultanas and a nectarine for breakfast. Pretty typical for this time of year.

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
I'm glad you are aware of the problem!

Today's dinner is ready to warm up. Spuds, carrots, whey butter, mint sauce and a boiled egg for protein.

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
With your bodyclock, what time to you have dinner Stanley?
Thanks for pricking my conscience on this weekend's diet. Healthwise, apart from just eating too much, my main downfall is cheese...

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
I use locally sourced Fetta made from Goat's milk on my homemade Pizza, Stanley....
Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
If you buy takeaway pizza, theres a very high liklihood it isn't cheese at all....Stanley wrote:I'm surprised at you David! I am no fan of the "Eat, don't cook" brigade! Its usually a clever concoction involving palm oil.

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
David, we all need a nudge now and then. Remember, no matter how far-fetched it may seem, your body is a temple! I have dinner after my morning walk at about 11:00, tea is at 16:30. Nothing between so I fast 18 hours each day and never feel hungry before dinner.
Had the bowl of veg for dinner and a sausage salad butty for teas on home made bread. Only two sausage....

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
Slow cooking a French Style Tarragon Chicken Casserole in the Le Crusette/heavy enamel pot thingy. Weighs a ton. Just wrestling it out of the cupboard produces a hernia. Smells delicious...
