Indeed, well done and haver mind the sore bits, they will soon heal.....
I didn't know that Colin was involved in Bontofts, if I had I would have been there as soon as they started! He was my optician 50 years ago and I once lent him a shop while he had his Station Road premises refurbished!
Maz, my email to my daughters about it was headlined 'knickers!' That's as far as I allowed myself to go public. Private reaction was a bit more direct! Roll on noon tomorrow.

Trying to write some reports in the living room whilst builders/plumbers/electricians continue to work on my kitchen renovations that were put back from last year when Cath was ill. At least I've a couple of days in Geordieland coming up with a nice hotel stay to get away from the mess for a while. Nolic

Bob is continuing building the pizza oven and laying his railway track. I may venture into the veggie patch to do a last tidy up before home on Tuesday. This virus infection has floored me for nearly two weeks, I haven't felt like doing much at all.
tomorrow we are having a day out on one of the islands on the Gulf de Morbihan. It's my favourite spot.

Probably the after effects of that summer cold Sue. Give yourself a break and take it easy, they can be very debilitating.

Keeping out of the way of the carpet cleaners who come today at 11:00. My daughters are continuing to raise my standards!
I've just realised that I need to write for the BET so that will be a way of passing the time while the carpets are cleaned.

See medical matters Sue....
The carpet cleaners (Atkinson's) were incredibly fast and efficient! They were in and out like a dose of salts and a splendid job, very impressed. Even more impressed when I asked them how much they wanted and they told me there was nothing to pay as it was included in the deep clean. Janet will be pleased because both she and Susan were expecting a further expense in their efforts to stop me becoming a dirty old man.
In keeping with the carpets, my flags in the front garden and the back yard are spotless after a sprinkling of Daz and a few days gentle rain. [Am wondering what I can clean next.....]
Today I shall repeat yesterday's honest endeavour and write another two articles for the BET. Onward and upwards and bugger the eyes!

Stanley, if you're suffering cleaning withdrawal symptoms, you're welcome to help with the aftermath of the beach!

It's the last day of Barlick Beach today; as well as selling ducks for the final Duck Race of the season (just over £100's worth to sell to reach our £1,000 target), I'll be girding loins to get the sand out after the beach closes at tea time.

In amongst, I've to pick up the teacakes, Yorkshire Parkin, Wensleydale Cheese, Yorkshire Ham etc for Marjorie Adams to make the sandwiches for tomorrow's Beating the Bounds Lunch.

Oh, and teach Claire Teall the Beating the Bounds Song as she'll have to lead the singing tomorrow as Eliza Mowe (our town crier) can't make it to the event.

Anyone wanting to do the Beating the Bounds walk? Please meet at Letcliffe Park on Sunday morning by 10am...

Today I am picking the last of the cabbage, covering over my veggie plot with plastic, cooking some apples and plums for the freezer and generally tidying up after our 7 week stay.

Hope the house has dried out when you get home, Sue.

Hubby and I drove part way back to suburbia and went to a major shopping centre today, as we were after a list of things we can't source locally...one of them being some net curtains for our bedroom. We have lived "seaside" for less than two months and probably haven't noticed our daily adjustment to the peace and quiet of our new existence, but were both quite overwhelmed by the noise and crowds of the shopping centre. We couldn't wait to get back in the car and be on our way home. We sat in the car for a few minutes before we left the mayhem behind, and all I could say to him was " That was absolutely awful!". He agreed. It was like a culture shock to be among such crowds. I can't believe we have adjusted to our new life of peace and quiet so totally.

Today I shall be stewing some cooking apples for the freezer, the apples on both the cooking apple tree and the eating apple tree are the best crop yet. The bramleys are bigger than we have ever seen them.
Say only a little but say it well.

Would you believe I have waited all summer for my runner beans. Loads of flowers. But not a bean, that is until now. The plant is covered in tiny beans and we leave on Monday. More crops for the neighbours again. Apparently it was the very hot weather a month ago that affected their progress.

Last year our pear tree did really well, tons of fruit. We have had full blossom on the tree this year but only have a single solitary pear on the tree this year?

Maz, nice to hear that you and David have adjusted so well. It shows you have made a good decision. Moh, nice to hear the apples are good and Ian, pears like plums are a law unto themselves.
I managed so well writing the articles over the weekend I shall have a look at the big waterwheel paper I have to edit.

I dragged Grumble Bum off to the local cinema this afternoon - a lovely intimate little ArtDeco style building. Then I dragged him along the beach for a walk.
Life...be in it!
( he didn't enjoy the film as much as I did, but I told him I would let him choose next time)
We saw "The 100ft Journey" ( Helen Mirren). I loved the scenery as it is set in France.
