Another piece of tacklers kit. A leather knife. Dad always used one like this for trimming the leather shaft belting. It also came in useful for trimming an ankle clearance on clogs.

Could be used for leather but Wendy has it. Always known as a Lino knife and used for trimming and fitting old fashioned linoleum floor covering.



Here's my old favourite, my stockman's knife. The upright blade is a general cutting blade but can anyone tell me what the left and right blades were for? Both specialised uses.

Cheating a little (googling Stockmans Knife) I found a very similar knife for sale (far from cheap). One is a castrating blade (RHS of picture), the other is a lambsfoot blade (LHS). But otherwise I wouldn't have known.

Following Stanley's recent fixation with knives. Does anyone know what a 'Skibouk' is? This reference is taken out of Percy French's poem "Abdul Abulbul Amir" re: Then this bold Mameluke drew his trusty skibouk. Is it a knife or a sword?

Right area but wrong machine.

It's the table on the tool and cutter grinder that can be set up at almost any angle to suit the cutter being sharpened. A very useful tool!
