All food is exciting and what we may think of as boring might give someone else an idea. Finished my veggies etc and had enough for tea with a few peas in to extend it.
Put some dried peas in to steep last night and ha ham hock to soak the salt out of it. Ham and peas soup is on the horizon!

Snap!
Soup for us too. Found two tubs of it while swinging on the freezer door trying to decide what to have for dinner.
Chicken and Veg Soup, according to my writing on the lid...made in September.

Chicken curry for us tonight. I have banana bread cooking at the moment. I thought I should start using the dozen (at least) bananas I have frozen.

I've just been ministering to my peas, I thought you'd like to see what they look like at this stage.

Image

Looks good enough to eat! Needs a bit more heat when the ham goes in to complete the softening of the peas. It has salt, pepper and some vinegar in at the moment so it can absorb the flavour. The hock is in the pressure cooker and has been brought up to pressure twice. It can go on a low light now for an hour. The gravy off the hock won't be too salty and will be used to thin the pease down and add the ham flavour....

They're only good for cooking when they defrost. The skins go black and the insides a bit runny. They make great cakes and muffins though. Better than throwing them away.

Had ham and pea X 2 for dinner and tea yesterday. Lovely grub and probably as healthy as you can get. Plenty left for today and I will freeze some so I don't get fed up with it.
Maz, probably helps what they coyly call 'transit time' but nothing serious....

Meat pie with half the ham and pea soup topped up with chips X two for dinner and tea. Nuts and raisins and a slice of date and walnut cake for a treat. Fruit for pudding. Strung onions appeared in Chaudrey's this week. Such nice onions...

Image

You know how much Moh and I like our bed of onions. Here's this mornings cooking, grilled sausages slowly casseroled with the onions and seasoning. I promise you it is good!

Had steak pudding peas and chips for dinner. Not hungry at teat time so just a tiny butty with some of the casserole on, fruit and nuts for pudding. Still adjusting to my revised dose of Metformin....

Sausage casserole looks tasty and nourishing, Stanley.

I have made a Lasagne tonight, and a large bowl of Garden Salad to have with it.
Had a tragic lunch....we were out and about, called into a country bakery for a pie. Febby chose meat and potato pie ( and enjoyed it), whilst I chose a mushroom pie ( loaded with garlic so I bit into it then chucked it in the bin. )
I must remember to quiz staff before ordering. As it turns out, the mushroom pies were the only pies in the entire shop that contained garlic! Just my luck, but it was enough of an experience to put me off entirely.
No garlic in my Lasagne. At least I know what is in it because I make it from scratch.

Harvested some more herbs from my garden today, Rosemary and Curry Plant. They are drying quietly in a corner and smell divine.

It's lovely Maz but sitting in the fridge at the moment. Can't think why but I'm not very hungry this last couple of days. I suspect my system is getting used to the increased dose of Metformin for my diabetes. Whatever, my waistband is getting looser!

I have days like that and am not Diabetic...just not much interested in food. It has a lot to do with the weather, of course, particularly the heat, which strips any appetite completely. ( mind you, you would trade your granny for a jug of water!)
Strangely enough, the weight doesn't shift greatly, always seem to be " well covered" despite the ups and downs in intake!
I can't work it out. I just go with the flow and don't beat myself up about it. Can't eat if you aren't hungry...
But you say you are losing weight, so keep an eye on it.

Two very small butties using the sausage and onion. I seem to have involuntarily gone into a phase of small meals so I am encouraging it. I have a fault, common I suspect in Singletons, of cooking too much and then feeling I have to eat it. Perhaps I am learning some sense?
