:geek: my thoughts exactly, Gloria.
What is a sine bar? :geek:

Could it be a type of hook race? I have something similar in my sewing machine...I think. :laugh5:

Not there Maz but you are in the right area of precision measuring..... A very specific use though and I may be being a bit hard on you all. Mysteries are thin on the ground now!

A special adaptation of a 90% Vernier Caliper. Never seen one though.

Its a gear tooth vernier calliper. Tesa made some nice instruments, a bit chunky and expensive but well made.

P has it. The reason for the 90 degree configuration is that one vernier measures tooth depth and the other width. Essential for accurate mesurement of racks, splines and gears.

Next for shaving?

If I remember rightly this is a simple valve that sits in a drain in the utility room floor, so if a washing machine suffers a flooding event the water can drain away.... but no nasties can creep in from the depths below.

And the nasties that could creep into Maz's utility room would be a magnitude nastier than ours.

Yes...it was in the floor of our previous Laundry.
It stops suds from the washing machine coming up, whilst at the same time it will drain any water away should the Laundry sustain a flood, such as if a hose burst or a sink overflowed.
