It is on the list for next week here. Today I bought a couple of jumpers and some shoes to wear with opaque tights. It was definitely cool this morning.

Over £700 raised. She did them proud and I am proud of Claire. A well organised event with loads of donations of prizes, cakes and time.

A few weeks ago we thought we would be frugal and grow a few plants from seed instead of buying them in pots. When I say a few I really mean about 6+ dozen. The seeds should have germinated in order; 7 days, 14 days, 21 days.... you get the drift. They didn't, they all came up in 7 days and we had to plant them before we left for holidays this weekend. It's taken days to finish with temparatures varying from 30 degrees to todays 15.

Thank goodness it's done. Now we have to hope its cold and wet whilst we are away so they don't die from lack of water. Very bad planning on our behalf!

Sounds like a repeat of our French veggies this year.

Today I am popping into Manchester, free on the train, tram (or bus ) on my bus pass as I live in Greater Manchester. I am going to Aberkhan, a fabulous fabric shop up near Picadilly to get a few bits and pieces for my Chinese brocade jacket I have designed. I feel a big bag of sewing goodies coming home with me

That name brings back memories Sue, my mother in law used to take me to Aberkhan many years ago....probably late seventies or early eighties, I think it was somewhere in North Wales and I vaguely remember it as being in a group of farm buildings. My fading memory might be getting it mixed up with somewhere else though!

Just been on their online store their registered address and head office is: Coast Road, Llanerch-Y-Mor Mostyn, Flintshire. Ring any bells Wendy? They have outlets at Manchester, Bolton and Preston.

I buy bargains when I see them rather than for a specific purpose. I now have quite a stash of sewing accessories and fabric. The material for this jacket was £5 for three yards of Chinese brocade off eBay about three years ago. The jacket, if it works, will be worth about £70plus

I'm sure it will work Sue!
I shall be in Colne library this morning hoping no one wants help with their family trees because I'm working on one for a friend and ex neighbour from when we lived in Scotland. John is a Wilkinson born in Preston but with family links to Colne. I started looking at his ancestry and it was one of those jobs that just flows.....really easy to follow with records from Colne Parish Church (now digitised and on Ancestry) going back to the 1730's and possibly beyond. There were shopkeepers, blacksmiths and cloggers in Colne town centre in the second part of the 19th century and weavers in Laneshaw Bridge before that, the 18th century trail shows them up the hill in Shayhead, only a couple of miles from where I live, quite a coincidence.
Yesterday afternoon the ponies had a "teeth & tetanus" visit from a lovely Scottish vet called Morven who worked at Stanley House in Colne for a year a while back and tried her best to improve the condition of my ailing horse Robbie. She then went off to do more training in Liverpool and headed back to Scotland for a while. She is now back at Stanley House but in the meantime she has been working at the Lanark vets that I used to use and living in Tarbrax very close to Harburn.
Another little coincidence!
Worries about little Sparky at the moment, he has had a slight nose bleed for a few weeks that isn't going away so we need to get it investigated.

Just been out and ordered a Horn sewing unit to store my machine and accessories. It folds into a cabinet but opens out into a right angled work surface. It should tidy up my sewing room a bit. We also went to look for a kitchen unit and work top to build round my washer and dryer in the conservatory, again to make things tidier. We ended up looking at new kitchens. Now I am very excited !

Anyone would think I had come into money :laugh5:

Oh definitely not me. Leave the pots, the dusting, the makeup hair etc. I Just chill out and enjoy myself when I sew ( most of the time) . All alterations on my designed paper pattern have been made and first piece of jacket sewn.

Have to admit I like my chores done and house in order before I begin sewing. Also have to have dinner worked out (it's usually bubbling away in the slow cooker on days when I am sewing).
The reason for this is two-fold. I can really get engrossed in what I am doing and lose huge slabs of time which I can't account for ( the creative process), and, I am too tired after sewing for hours to catch up on things I should have done earlier. Always nice that dinner is ready and waiting too of course....
As for dressing up, make-up, looking neat....ha!...doesn't happen.
I am one of these people who is always astounded by the trail of mess I have made when being creative...
