Last of the ham hock on two small butties for dinner. I didn't fancy butties for tea so I used my imagination. I had half a tin of beans in the fridge so I put them in a bowl with half of a lump of pressed beef I had about me and microwaved it till it melted into the beans. Made some chips and popped them on top, nice tea!

Marinating some lamb for a lamb, potato & pea curry tonight.

Rest of the pressed beef on two small butties for lunch with stewed plums and cream for pudding. Avocado and prawns for tea with the rest of the plums and cream for pudding. Braised a piece of rump on a bed of onions with some of the gravy from the ham hock which has set to a very stiff jelly.

Some of the cold rump steak on the last of the bread at dinner. For tea I put the remaining rump and the onion gravy in a pan, added the gravy from the ham hock, 5 carrots and some gram flour to thicken it up and cooked on the stove in the front room, waste not want not! I had half of it on chips for tea.... Enough left for the same again today.

I extended the left over gravy again yesterday with more carrots and peas. I had it with chips for both dinner and tea. I had a sudden urge later and had a full tin of apricot halves with custard.... my iron will failed me!

Moh, "Leave the eyes in, it's to see us through to the end of the week".
Steak pudding and peas for dinner. I built a mutton stew with two chops and a shank with carrots and parsnips during the day so I pinched some veggies out of it and had another steak pudding with chips and veg for tea.

For tea - read breakfast. It's time to speak about my porridge recipe. I've tried this for a while now, and I'm still eating it. About 400 calories, and good for dieters.

Three tablespoons of porridge.
(own brand 75p per kilo - usually found on the bottom shelf below all that fancy stuff)
One standard tea mug of skimmed milk
A handful of raisins
Two bay leaves.
Pinch of salt.

Put all in a pan and bring to the boil.
Give it a stir, and serve with a grating of nutmeg, and a splash of cold milk. Remove the bay leaves,

Don't use Schwartz bay leaves - far too expensive. Buy them in bulk on the internet.
There's a whole website dedicated to them - It's called eBay.

My winter breakfast is porridge also Tripps. I don't do the bay leaves but do use bog standard once milled oats that I get from our friendly market trader Elaine who stock's the Country Products range. I have some rough cut as well but that is better for the energy bars that I make for cycling.

My morning breakfast with a yogurt drink to start, 40g porridge made with semi skimmed milk and salt and a mug of tea comes in at 370 calories.

I had an avocado that was dead ripe so I made a sandwich filling out of it with Stilton and stewed plums. Looked like cat vomit but I had it in three small oven bottoms for dinner and it was nice.... Tea was a bowl of the new mutton stew, lovely, very sweet because of the carrots and parsnips. Made some custard and had stewed plums and custard for pudding. Custard goes a funny colour when all you have is molasses sugar.....
Elaine's oats look good but I am still working my way through the 28lb bag of medium oatmeal I got from a watermill in Scotland about three years ago.... The oats are kiln dried and so it has a nutty flavour. I use it for porridge occasionally but most goes for thickening soups and into my bread, I always put a tablespoon of oats in the mix....

It does Moh but the gravy looks so muddy!
Had a bowl of mutton stew for dinner and the last of the plums and custard. Stew again for tea. One bowl left in the fridge and the pot cleaned out. I didn't put spuds in this time so not as much bulk and far more tasty!

Lamb Rogan Josh with basmati rice and onion bahji's. I didn't get anything out of the freezer for our tea yesterday so finding ourselves passing Aldi we called in to pick one or two things up. I saw some nice diced lamb and onion bahji's so picked them up along with a pack of microwave rice.

Sealed the lamb along with a nice big onion in the frying pan and then tipped in a jar of Mr Pataks ready made Rogan Josh curry sauce. Brought it all up to a decent simmer and then tipped it in the slow cooker for the afternoon. Onion bahji's in the oven for 10 minutes and 2 minutes for the rice in the microwave. Total prep time no longer than 20 minutes including the oven and microwave time, proper tasty as well.

Lots to be said for the chippy Moh. It's like an evening off when you do your own cooking!
I had the last small bowl of the stew for dinner followed by two currant scones Kathy slipped into my bag when I wasn't looking! I just had a bit of butter on them for a treat... Tea was three oven bottoms with roast ham and a large and very strong onion ring on each. Didn't half clear my head! I've put some oats and milk in a bowl to soak, proper porridge for dinner.....

Porridge again for dinner. I got a cauli (59p), carrots and parsnips and steamed the cauli over the veggies. Tea was steak pudding, chips and veggies. I got some beautiful red grapes as well and once I started on them I couldn't leave them alone.... I ate the lot! Plenty of veggies left over....

Steak pudding and veggies for dinner. I had a helping of cauli, carrots and parsnips left over so for tea I fried the last of the bacon, poached two eggs and had the lot for tea. Unconventional I know but a nice meal.... Plenty of fruit of course.
