Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
I fried six herb laden sausages and when they were brown I put them on a bed of onions with the usual condiments and braised them on the stove for an hour or two. Dinner was chips with sausage and onion gravy, very tasty.... For tea I had a change and made four small slices of cheese on toast, cut them into squares and tipped a tin of baked beans on top. Nice change.... Fruit for pudding of course!

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
I decided that the sausages in onion gravy had legs so I boiled carrots and swede, mashed them with butter and mixed the gravy and sausage in with the result. I had it with steamed cauli for dinner and tea.... There is still some left over. I love extending meals!

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
Being lazy again tonight - we enjoyed our fish & chips from the chippy last week so we are having them again tonight. Feels nice to have a break from thinking about what to have and then cooking it!
Say only a little but say it well.

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
Moh, my version of that is to cook in industrial quantities and have plenty left over!
Had three small pressed beef butties for dinner. I toasted the bread because it was nearing its sell by date! Cauli and the carrot, swede and sausage mixture for tea.

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
Dinner was the last of the cauli and veggies with the sausage in plus a steak pudding because there wasn't a lot left. Tea was three very small haslet butties.

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
Tender braised steak, new, and crispy roasted potatoes, chopped carrots and swede, cauliflower florets, Yorkshire puddings and sumptuous gravy, with good French Red Wine.
Thomo. RN Retired, but not regretted!
Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
all sounds lovely, though rather 'heavy'. I expect it is the cooler weather sharpening appetites...(I am just jealous. I only have to think of food like that and I become pudding shaped!)
Finishing the Chicken/Veg/Lentil Soup tonight, with the last of the Cheese and Chive Bread.

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
Two small poached egg butties for dinner. Meanwhile I was building a stew... The basis is 4 grilled Lincolnshire sausages plus veggies and supercharged with various spices, a small tin of anchovies and some Marmite.... The small pan on the right is swede which I mashed and used for thickening when the main event was ready. I had a bowl of this for tea and for pudding treated myself to half a Terry's chocolate orange.... I know, I shouldn't have done it but it was lovely!

Steamed cauli (59p), carrots and parsnips for dinner. Black pudding and fried egg on oven bottoms for tea. (Had to replace the armful of blood they stole off me yesterday!)

A beef bolognese bubbling in the slow cooker, we'll have it with Tagliatelle with a bit of cheese on top.

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
Loosely food related . . . . . .
I have just been for a walk round the village. I popped into the apple shop - they just sell apples and pears - they only open this time of year, and grow them all behind the shop. Of the many varieties on offer, I got some Coxes, and they are the best tasting apple I've had for years. Now I know why I stopped buying supermarket imported ones. The supermarkets wouldn't touch any of them because of their appearance, but I'll be back for more.

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
David, the English Cox apples are good this year, I'm enjoying them as well.... The English Comice pears are wonderful as well.....
I had a vegetarian day yesterday, porridge for dinner and Cauli carrots and parsnips for tea followed by stewed plums with no added sugar or custard. Then fruit for pudding.
