Bodge gave a lovely answer because he killed two birds with one stone. Guy Motors used a cast metal head based on this for the radiator cap but I took mine from the advertisements for Carborundum. Logo was 'Hardest and sharpest'.

No offers I see. Well I'm not going to be boring! It's a specimen high grown mountain Jarrah log in King Park, Perth, WA. This is some of the toughest wood in the world, close grained, hard, flexible and incredibly long lasting. Lovely stuff to work with as well. It is illegal to fell trees like this now, all new Jarrah has to be sustainable and this means low grown, wider grain and while it is good, it isn't a patch on the old stuff. I laid a floor for Janet sawn from reclaimed timber like this and it was lovely stuff. One little known tip.... Karri is a closely related wood and almost indistinguishable from Jarrah but not as good. The way to definitively tell the difference is to set light to a splinter. The Karri will burn to white ash, the Jarrah will retain its shape and be black and hard.

Wonderful! It brings back lovely childhood memories. Mum had a similar one which was kept in a box just like that, I used to love using it. I had one years ago but I've no idea what happened to it...that attached to the worktop with a suction pad which didn't work very well.

I see only the top 10% or so. All other images are OK including the ones in the postings above and below it on the same page. I've experienced this before and I put it down to slow internet here but I'm baffled. Strange, just ignore it.

I'll have to, can't reproduce the error, not come across it before. Best guess would be a memory problem but you would probably have other errors if that was the case. I won't loose any sleep.

I agree with Wendy and have the same memories of clamping the mincer to the edge of the kitchen table and helping mother to mince suet and good stuff like that! I don't think I have ever seen that make. Try this one....

Curses!! Yes, you're right Wendy. The small Blow butter churns that almost ever farm had to make fresh butter for the family. I first met them at Harrod's Farm over 60 years ago when it was my before breakfast job to churn the day's butter after I had pumped up the days water to the internal storage tank from the well in the porch. That was after milking.... Those were the days.....
