Salmon, Broccolini and Baby Peas.

You guys have your "comfort food" going on, and I can't say I blame you. Lousy weather your way. Tuck in and enjoy it, I say!
I often wish I lived in a climate where I earned the calories, just keeping warm, to enjoy my food. Not so here 95% of the year. I get sooooo sick of Cold Salads.

We need it to keep warm - not salad weather here.
Chicken legs with Spanish potatoes - new potatoes, chorizo, tomatoes, onions, garlic, paprika, chilli all cooked in olive oil.
Say only a little but say it well.

Moh is dead right Maz. This is not the weather to be worrying about fats or calories! I had exactly the same menu yesterday as the day before. It might seem like lack of imagination to many but it was two lovely meals that I enjoyed. I started a mutton stew with a blade of Mutton on a bed of onions with a tin of chopped tomatoes, Olive oil and the usual condiments. I Put the gravy in the fridge overnight and skimmed the fat off this morning before returning it to the slow cooker. I also de-boned the meat and cut it up into bite size chunks. Some water added and more salt together with frozen peas and a tin of small new potatoes. It's sat there warming up now and I shall let it argue with itself until tea-time when the meat will be like butter. Dinner is catered for......
Later at 06:00. I have just had a secondary de-fatting of the stew and harvested more fat. It will do now..... I like fat but too much can dull the taste...

Home made spicy lamb burgers with a plateful of salad, coleslaw & gherkins sprinkled with olive oil, sunflower and pumpkin seeds. Our usual pud of berries in full fat Greek Yoghurt with a splash of double cream. Filling, warming and slimming!! :laugh5:

I boiled a pan of carrots and steamed a small cauliflower on top. (90p) I put most of the carrots in the stew but had some and some gravy from the stew on the cauli for dinner. Mutton stew for tea.... lovely stuff!

I had the last of the mutton stew for dinner and at teatime the ham and veggies was ready. Superb! No salt in, even though I pre-boiled the hock there was enough salt in it. Lovely stuff and I added more string beans last night. It will be better still today.....

Doing something with Noodles tonight. Not sure what!
We love Noodles, and I usually buy the fresh ones and "melt" them into Spicy Beef. Last week we hovered around the array of dried/long life noodles, and our interest was aroused with the variety on offer.
Bought a couple of different ones, which will sit in the pantry forever if I don't try them out. So tonight we experiment...

Lamb Kleftiko constructed by myself for me and our Jack which will be followed by bread and butter pudding. Sally has a veggie casserole and has made the pudding with a seeded GI fruit loaf, should be interesting.

I like the seeded loaves, I stick to Borgen. I freeze the loaves and just toast them as required so no waste.
I had the slow cooked ham and veggies twice yesterday for dinner and tea. That has finished it off and it's butcher's day today.....

I've just wiped the fridge out, ready for shopping tomorrow - cleaned the crisper etc.
The only thing remaining in the crisper this week was 4 carrots. That is what I call efficient shopping! Everything else got used. (And I always do keep a few spare carrots, as hubby loves raw carrot as an afternoon snack if he gets peckish)
Pies, Mash and Baked Beans tonight.
