Re: MYSTERY OBJECTS
It would have made it a lot easier Ian if I had added a size, but I thought it may have run a bit longer....well done Wendy.

Re: MYSTERY OBJECTS
No Gloria but you are correct in concentrating on what looks like a spout. It was a good try.

An oil lamp - oil in the pot and a rag in the spout?

Re: MYSTERY OBJECTS
This was the one they used on the road works China, the Wells Flare. Cast iron, rope for the wick and waste oil and paraffin for fuel. However, Tiz is right.
It's what used to be called a 'stink lamp' because they smoked and stunk! The clever thing about them is the design. Here it is folded up and used on a flat surface, my original pic is of it unfolded and hung on a nail in the wall etc. All as cast, a little cast iron miracle, the pattern makers in those days were brilliant. The spout has a piece of thin rope in it and unscrews to fill it.
Next one?

Re: MYSTERY OBJECTS
Various things went through my mind for Stanley's object but when I thought of an oil lamp it seemed right. I realised later that David is probably right and it was on OG in the past.
Now, let's try this one then. Any offers?

Re: MYSTERY OBJECTS
Is it used by people with Arthritis? Can it be put over a jar lid or door handle or tap handle to make twisting easier for arthritic hands?
The only other thing I can think of is a "fridge freshener".
